Not sure but I read the paper today and it reported that Alex Fergie believes that it's because of family problem. He wants to spend more time with his family...

Apart from being one the only red heads in the history of football to be able to pass a ball, Scholes was quiet crap for England anyway.

1 goal in about 4 years is quite average.

Probably to focus on his club career, that's usually the reason. His international career wasn't going great, he has been played out of position for England for several years now and at Euro 2004 he was played way out of position on the left of midfield so I think that was also a factor.

Not that big a loss for England really when you look at Scholes form. Gerrard and Lampard will probably remain our central midfielders for the next world cup so maybe someone will break through capable of playing left midfield. We have plenty of midfield players who, depending on their form over the next two years, could stake their claim: Jenas, Milner, Bowyer, Butt, Dyer, Ambrose, Hargreaves, J.Cole, Parker, Murphy, Davis, Wright-Phillips, Barry, Dunn etc etc.

Good for him to retire to have more time with his family. I respect those decisions. Although if he continued to play for england I think he would start to lose his place with all the great talent england has in that posistion.

At the end of the day the English boat has been a sinking ship since '66, and Scholes has made the correct decision to jump off and save himself while there is still time.

a sinking ship? I am now convinced that you do not belong on these boards. Only a handful of countries can boast having more success than England at international tournaments. How can one save themselves from playing for their national side? Any athlete in their right mind would give their left nut to play for their country. You obviously have a very skewed view on the world.

Sinking ship!? DJ Smitty20 is right you do not belong on these boards. England in most peoples eyes has the one of the most promising young sides in the world. Rooney, A Cole, Lampard, Dafoe, Ledley King, Joe Cole, Owen, Sol(has another 3 years in him), Parker, Dyer and the list goes on. You obviously do not know what your talking about. Also if England didnt get screwed in the Euro they would have beat Portugal and who knows after that.

Don't let your extreme bias cloud your view.

The English football team is full of girly boys. I reckon the lot of them would spend more time in the beauty salon than on the training pitch. How funny are England supporters saying that they have acheived lots since '66, wake up stupids!! You haven't won anything, zip, zero, nil.

Lets just have a quick look at this England team:

James - A player of his standard should have stayed in 1st division. Prone to brain explosions, and wouldn't make the team in any of the other top 10 nations. Simply making up the numbers, no mental strength, better suited to a music career.

Gary Neville - Looks like a retard, and plays like one too. Ugly bastard.

Ashley Cole - Sock cock, mummy's boy, takes poor options.

Gerrard - Apart from the break a leg tackle there is no much else to Gerrard's game.

Terry - Not tough enough to be a defender.

Campbell - Decent player.

Beckham - The most over-rated player in the entire history of the game. Can't beat a man, can't tackle, has no technical ability. All he can do is run around alot and pass the long ball. Its harder to figure out whether he played worse in the Primera Liga or Euro2004. The reality that he is a player was always going to catch up with him. Beckham paints his finger nails the nancy boy.

Scholes - Never really cared about anything other ManU, including the English national side, can't tackle for , and if an opposition player blows wind at him he will fall down injured.

Rooney - Surely those ears have got to slow him down. This player sums England right up. Before every tournament in any sport England love to talk up their chances and make decidedly average players seem like world beaters. What a laugh. The next Pele? What a joke.

Owen - Did he score a goal last season? Soft cock, sooky, little mummy's boy this one, would get injured from being called names, after crying of course. Can't find the net when playing football on his own.

Lampard - Decent player, bit of a sock cock.

Phil Neville - See Gary Neville. The question isn't can the Neville brothers play, because everybody knows they can't. Its which is uglier?

Hargreaves - Decent player, can crack under pressure, and has one really game every 4.

Vassell - How is this lump of crap playing in a national side?

And some of the younger players you mention:

Parker - God wasn't that a mistake Chelsea buying him? Was totally and couldn't pass a ball.

King - lol are you guys serious?

One thing I must credit you guys on is the vast improvement in standard in English football since there are no Englishmen left playing in it.

PacMan
hes just unhappy cause germany got the boot real early from the euro2004!

and from what i see there cant be much fotball players around the world he likes.

and saying there isnt much to gerrards game that just shows how much you know.

i say we get a ban on him from the sports forum.

Aside from the 1970's, England have always been a world class team, you wit. I"m sorry, but you are just a goddamn moron and obviously are just another biased English hater.

Let's do a quick runthrough of England's results the past 20 years...

1986 WC = QF loss on a cheated goal to Argentina (Maradonna's Hand of God).

1990 WC - SF loss to Germany on Penalties.

1996 Euro - SF loss to Germany on Penalties.

1998 WC - Round of 16 loss to Argentina on Penalties, despite winning the game in extra time, yet having the goal disallowed for some mysterious reason.

2002 WC - QF loss to Brazil, the eventual champions, on a freak second goal.

2004 Euro - QF loss on Penalties, despite actually winning the game in regulation but had the goal disallowed. (see 1998)

So yes...a sinking ship since 1966 indeed. England continuously breach the top 10 nations in the world, occasionally having a chance to reach a final. The only thing I'd agree with you is about David James. He's the worst England GK I've ever seen and needs to be replaced. Everything else you said is crap...and any football analyst would gladly help you put your foot up your ass or in your mouth.
