Should I get a Bike ? (pg. 3)

depends on how yah fall :D there is the braking into a corner fall where the wheels lock up and the bike slides out from under you. Its something you can usually react to fast enough to get a leg out and you just slide for a bit. No dmg except aesthetics to the bike.

The scary ones are highsiding and the devils wobble. Throws you off like a buckin bronco and you hit hard. then slide. and hope the bike doesnt hit you.

Hard to do if you arent reallly pushing the bike though.

Take Orbax advice! He helped me purchase my first bike, a 1990 Kawasaki Ninja 600R. His advice is extremely helpful. Just be patient and do not buy the first bike you find. Don't forget your gear either!

My friend was getting an oil filter for his 04 R1 today and he was hitting on teh girl at the parts counter. Well he overheard a lady ask the salesman what is a good bike for his son to get as a beginners bike.

What bike did the salesman suggest? You guessed it, a brand new R1. :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

****** should have been selling her a casket too cause that's what she's gonna need after he gets on that bike for the first time.

I started out on my VFR 800. It .03 slower than the R6. The R6is actually a little more deadly than an R1 because its smaller and easier to turn/flip.

Im all for starting out on the bike you want. Why waste 6-10k on something you dont want?

Because that's a pretty damn big/powerful bike to learn on. I'd say buy something small and ty to get use to what it's like riding a bike, and then drop the money when you know what you're doing.

Ducati Monster-darks make me hot.

Orbax thanks for the advice man, really helpful, it's my Birthday today, and I got bad news, my mom, last night turned down the whole bike idea and said a dead set NO. I don't think I've ever been pissed off in my life, god damn it wtf is wrong with her, she always does this , I propose something that is "out there" and she says something like "ya, maybe" or some like that and then I keep talking to her about it until when I come to something like "I'm going to wheels world to look at bikes tomorrow" and then once it's a reality she tells me that there is no way in hell, she has her mind made up from the time I propose it and she just alludes from the decision for as long as she can, god damn it. This is a ty birthday, I'm just depressed I guess :( , last night I was pissed off but now it's just disappointment, I'm not getting turntables for my B day and I can't even get a bike, I still want one though, even if I don't want one later on, I'll still buy it when I'm 18 just to piss her off. I mean I understand her concern but she just refuses to analyze the situation, like a damn bull, she just refuses to consider the facts, the roads that I would be driving on, the speeds I would be doing on the bike, all the safety gear, armored gear, spinal cones (like Orbax told me) but she just talks right over me and doesn't listen. I apologize for the rant guys, it's just not a good day for me.

yeah, my parents were against it for a while too. Then I rolled my 24,000 dollar car off a cliff and couldnt afford anything any more. I actually still owe them about 1000 bucks :\

I need to get a job

I had a nice 250 Ninja, great starter bike.. to bad i had to let go though :( nothing beats a bike though, there's no substitute for it unless you know and you've ridden one.

damn dude, did you roll it off a cliff like an accident or like intentionally in an evil scheme to get a bike?
I don't know my mom is pretty dead set, I could swing her the other way but it would take some major work, now that I got the idea of a bike in my head I am utterly obsessed, spending hours looking at safety gear etc.:eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:
