| since the latest cd by diesel boy was mentioned in a previous post, i would like to hear some opinions about what the best dnb cds to purchase are. i would like to start getting into it, and such forum topics helped me pick out lots of trance cds (magik 6 and the rest of the magic series, gu 13, avb boundaries of imagination.... etc). i already have dnb warfare by adam f, and breakbeat science by dara (i prefer the latter due to lack of lame rapping). so, what would be the top 10 dnb cds of all time? |

I find it easier to name tracks than artist albums for obvious reasons, one of them being there's a bounty of tracks that influenced whole movements like clownstep and jazzstep and techstep and watchyourstep. But heck, this is one of my faves:
Goldie - Timeless
It was there near the beginning! A good representation to cue you in on how far the sound has come. Also, I very much like David Bowie's take on DnB on the album Earthling. Not 100% drum 'n' bass, but then again, neither is Timeless... LOL.
I would have to say Roni Size and crew have also put out a historical landmark in New Forms.
Definitely have to agree on the Photek -- he's concentrating more on the straightahead dancefloor more nowadays, isn't he? Standout single being "Ni Ten Ichi Ryu". He's got a thing for space travel, samurai, and spying. |

And he's got a new LP coming out doesn't he? At least that's what I scoped over at Dogs on Acid. |

Inner City Life is just the first of 3 tracks (2 others are Pressure & Jah) mixed as one. The result is the 21min mixture and is called Timeless, name track of the album. Inner City Life itself is about 7 mins.
My fav DnB album is LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression 1, the original edition. It got a new release in 1998 with slightly different tracklist and also a 3rd disc with Bukem's selected dnb classics. |
