what do you think about EDM and drugs?

i was at an outdoor EDM festival last weekend, and saw a lot of people on drugs, was offered to buy coke, X, weed, asked if i had coke, X, acid. i saw a person get taken out on a stretcher to an ambulance, and heard about 3 other people taken away. Heard there was bad acid going around. Saw this girl puking all over, FREAKING out, and crying....and it wasn't from too much alchohol.
i knew that this event would attract a lot of hardcore ravers and i knew drug use was to be expected...
and i don't have anything against druggies unless they are a burden to society...I, myself smoked pot frequently from age 16-20...i am curious about trying X, but probably won't do it...i don't think a little weed really hurts anyone...
but i was wondering what percentage of EDM fans are drug users, and more specifically, what percentage of TAs are...also peoples views on drugs/users, and the relation to EDM...
btw the event was called blueshift, and i had a great time....skylab2000 was insane...tore the place up! |

i don't do drugs...
i would guess 70% of EDM fans do some kind of drug
i would guess about the same on TA
i think drugs are a apart of the scene and its not something that could ever be changed. sometimes people get a little nuts, but as long as people are doing it in a controlled manner and not bothering anyone...i don't care if people are doing it... |

Depends on what you mean as a drug user, as well. Frequency, intensity...does doing it once count as a user.
lots of people you probably wont even know they are messed up, its just the abusers who get rolled. |

I do drugs
but not to an extent of being called a druggie.
i used to be a MEGA pot head....but that sort of died down after being high 24/7 for practically a year and a half lol
right now im just chillin- anywayz.....ganja isn't a drug ;) |

| I personally dont do drugs, but if other people want to use them Im not gonna judge them or say they are beneath me. My only opinion is, if your gonna use drugs, be responsible and dont ruin the night for yourself and people around you. |

I was heavily into the drug scene for a while. I'm not anymore, but I have never needed to be on drugs to actually enjoy my music. Yes, it's very awesome to listen to EDM when you are tripping out, and EDM is very connected to drug use as it is very trip enhancing unlike most other music.
However, that is the drug users choice, and I wouldn't say EDM is bad because it encourages drug use. It doesn't at all.
I think drugs addicts are in trouble and need to change their lives, but people who do drugs once in a while for whatever reason, I don't care so long as they aren't hurting anything/one, or themselves.
I would say that the precentage of YOUTH all together that uses drugs is very high, not just people who listen to EDM. |

I think it's kind of ridiculous that people associate music genres to lifestyles (except maybe in the case of punk, which is BS anyways). I know just as many people who are into EDM who don't do drugs as I know people who are. I for one, do not do drugs, and find drugs kind of useless and I DO judge people for using them mainly because most druggies I know are total s, that and drugs have changed a lot of my friends for the worst, so I'm kind of biased against them. If, however, someone can show me they're still a decent person, it wouldn't bother me as much, as long as I'm not around while it's being done. I get physically sick to my stomach when people talk about doing drugs or are doing drugs.
