i didnt see a pc help thread, so here goes...

well this is by far the most wierdest thing i seen in xp pro. anywho, i was just going to swap my 4GB for my 20GB and clone it for my main drive (OS), so i shutdown and removed the case cover but i had fergotten to double check the jumper settings. i plugged it back in and booted up but it didnt boot into my account (booeyman) and it was gone. all my settings/desktop icons were gone too. it had booted in the admin accnt, but i had never setup xp pro to boot asking which account to log into. it always booted up with my desktop, not the log in screen. i went into the computer management and i do see a booeyman account but nuttin next to it.

i was in the computer management before i shutdown checking my c drive partition but i never changed or touched anything in there. what happened and how can i get my account back without having to create a new one?

see the images below to see the 'booeyman' account in the comp. mang. and explorer

read it again

you forgot to change the jummpers? hehe, it could have been alot worst. That reminds me when i reformatted one of my drives which was encryped. What i forgot was that that drive kept the encryption keys for all the other drives. Lost a total of 120GB from 3 different drives. That really sucked.

way you SHOULD have done it:

put 20gb in as slave drive alongside the 4gb, format it for ntfs, copy all documents you require onto the 20gb drive. take 20gb drive out and format the 4gb drive then fresh install windows xp on it, then plug the 20gb drive back in and there ya go - ya keep all your docos, have a spyware free system, and a secondary 20gb drive to play with
