The toxins come out of the follicle and spread out through the strand of hair in the center, the same way they transfer nutrients to your hair. They dont rip the hair out of your scalp, they cut it from about an inch away from the scalp depending on how long your hair is. |

yes, the closer to the root you get the longer history of drug use they can see. |

| so has yer test happened already yet? Those hair test are some scary , I sometimes fear getting tested and the testers telling everyone I know and making me lose everything just because I had a few fun nights. |

Meh, those tests are unreliable. It's very easy to get a false positive...
You can test positive for marijuana from having taken Advil, Naproxin, or anything that contains promethazine, and you can test positive for Cocaine by drinking tonic water.
They're basically a joke in the legitimate scientific community and any organization stupid enough to rely on them probably isn't worth associating with 90% of the time. |

Not hair tests, if you really think that then you should do some research as I have. They are 99% accurate and they will tell you exactly what drugs you have done, even if there is a false positive they can do a different test and that will finialize your results. |

eeek, there aren't many organizations left in these parts that are worth associating with then!
But really, nearly every employer except the head shops and beatnik coffee places over here in the Bible belt will do drug testing. All the schools do it too; every student in every High school in my district "voluntarily" signed up for drug testing, what really happened with that though is that they gave out the names of the people who hadn't signed up yet and conned the rest of the students into pressuring those kids to "win" the competition between schools for drug test sign ups.
I still have the free t-shirts they gave out from that campaign. Several years later it turns out that there is a huge stoner population who all wear those stupid t-shirts, heheheh.
I think everyone should take drugs until people realize that its pointless to continue testing, so any TA's whose bad fortune ever leads them here, look me up and we'll go smoke some, w00t. |

I don't see why drug testing is such a big deal. Its stupid and pointless, yes, but its a fact of life so its not that hard to deal with. If I know I'm gonna be looking for a job, I would just stop using until I get hired. Jesus if you can't stop using drugs to get yourself a job then you are pretty much an addict and should probably get some help anyway.
Now if the place wanted to do a hair test, that I wouldn't even want to work there. Even if I'm not using I'm not letting anyone take a fat chunk out of my hair. There are other jobs, you dont need that . And if the place does random drug tests, well, its just not worth working at a place like that. |

| This wasnt for a job, it was to be eligible in a program to make extra $$ on the side. I have a great job that pays me very well and they never tested me. Actually I think they kind of assume that im on something anyway cuz they joke around with me ehehehe. Even my supervisor. My job is corporate but they are pretty relaxed here. Besides, I always do my job, I do it well and as instructed and I have never disappointed them so why should they care. |

Yeah, I wasn't really commenting about your situation. When something like that comes up, you can't really do anything about it.
You would be surprised how many corporate types are on coke, meth, or are alcoholics. Once you get past the initial drug test, I've found that while most companies are officially against drug use, as long as you are not obviously high at work noone really cares if you are using.
And of course its always amusing when you run into co-workers at clubs. I saw a girl from my work once and went over and started talking to her. She was visibly pretty messed up on E (so was I) and when I came over she was like "thank god, I was panicking when I saw you, but you are obviously as high as me". Turned out to be an awesome night. |

You need to work on your research skills, then. :)
The hair follicle test seperates the metabolites from the rest of the hair by soaking the hair in a solvent and seperating them from the rest of the solution using a centrifuge. The resulting metabolites are then subjected to the same chemical analysis used to analyze urine. All the same chemicals will result in false positives for both types of tests, because the chemical analysis in both cases is the same.
Hair follicle tests are generally regarded as being more reliable than urine tests because the tested material is more "pure," but the only MDs who will tell you that they're reliable in general are ones who don't know anything about the subject or who are profiting from hair follicle testing. |
