As far as durability and quality goes, what do you guys think? Specifically cdrw not cdr.

cd writers are so cheap now I don't think it really matters. But Plextor was considered very good a while ago...probably still are
zapper
No doubt: Plextor. Expensive but more than worth it.
Orbital32
plextors. that is all ever own. You want true quality, get plextor.

Plextor is for top-notch quality, although they are a bit more expensive than others. Some good "budget" drives are ones from Lite-On and LG.

I was under the impression that he is asking about the actual blank discs... :conf:

I have a Samsung 52-24-52 that works great.

Mostly use Memorex CD-R or CD-RW in the 50 pack spindles..

oh yeah, if you can... TDK drives and media (cd-r and cd-rw discs) are a really good combo and offer lots of cool security, quality, and software features.
ShadoWolf
why not get a DVD-writer instead?
Orbital32
i wouldn't suggest TDK media. They are actually lower quality, and different drive have problems that media on different drives. Another to avoid is Imation. Good media would include Memorex and Fujifilm.
Omegasox
Memorex is all I ever use. Can't beat the quality for the price.

Zeiter
yeah, memorex is what i use 2...good quality...but remember that u have to put them in a safe place and not let them over ur desk or something cause it will be really easy to make them skip etc...

do u remember guys when kodak was considerated best cds? Is it still that cause i remember they were kind of expensive 2...

Ok. You can buy a plextor, sure. Go ahead and waste some money. :)

I've had a 52x32x52 Lite-On CD burner and a 4x Lite-On DVD burner since they both came out. The CD burner has turned out well over 1,000 discs, and I can only remember two coasters. (Both of which were user error.) The DVD burner has NEVER turned out a coaster.

You be the judge. NewEgg sells Lite-On drives for next to nothing.
