I'm 6 foot 1 and 199lbs and I'm trying to get to like 185lbs just can't make it, maybe it's my died (too much carb or something). I run 10km per day at least 5 times a week and my work is also physically very demanding.

I guess I just eat too damn much :) and too much beer too. Maybe I should find an energy drink that takes away hunger..

I was serious. Unless he goes to the gym the only way he's going to gain weight is from fat. Basketball and biking don't build enough muscle to make much of a difference at all weightwise if you're trying to gain. And this guy already said he stopped going to the gym.

I'd advise the following:

Eat a lot of meat, fat, and sugar
Go to the gym regularly (say 3 times a week)
Sleep a lot

Basically, lifting heavy weights tells your muscles that they should grow, eating fat and meat gives them the substances needed for growth, while the proces of growth is at its best during sleep.

im 18 yrs old, 5'5 105lbs and im male. I know im really thin (and short) but i don't really care. I eat plenty throughout the day and the doctor says im healthy. that's what matters to me...i'm sure i'll put on the weight when I don't want it. :stongue:

to gain it's a combination of diet and weight lifting.

damn and i thought i had it bad. some of you guys need to gain some weight. i eat all the time as well, and workout once or twice a week. i just get stronger but no actual muscle/weight gain. i wanna gain like 10 pounds and i'd be a happy camper.

Ahh. So I suppose with this being true, until weight lifting was invented - people didn't gain muscle?

There are all sorts of ways to gain muscle without ever going into the weightroom.

It's all about integrating exercise you enjoy and do regularly into your life permenantly.

by playing basketball and biking he's burning calories which = weight loss. weight lifting is the best way to put on muscle. until weight lifting was invented i'm sure there weren't a bunch of huge muscled guys walking around like there are today. but really people have been lifting heavy objects are 1000's of years

I don't really care about getting ripped...I just want a little more mass. I have very little fat on me as is...just a wiry guy with small muscles.

All I'm saying is you don't have to go to the weight room to gain mass. I agree its the fastest way, but some people (like me) really hate lifting weights a lot. It's bad for you and it keeps me from doing the things I love usually.

I gained almost 30 pounds (mostly muscle) just rockclimbing and hiking over 2 years. The only reason I lift now is just to have "beach muscles" (look good at the beach) - that's it.

Just go to college :p

Freshman 15 ahoy.

I thought I never could gain any weight either, I am 6'8" and I weighed about 180. I had some fat in my legs, but it was mostly muscles, and my upperbody was all nothing, you could see my ribs. Now I'm about a solid 210 after a year of college :p
