I was over at my grandfather's house earlier this afternoon, helping him configure his new Sony Vaio to function on the home network he has going with his other two computers. After we were done, I was like, "Hey, you haven't seen my new car stereo, have you?" (He gave me birthday money, and I spent it on the rear speakers. He's always interested to see what I manage to turn $150 into. I covered the cost of the front speakers, and my parents bought me the deck.)
So, we walk out to my car. I get in on the driver side, and he gets in shotgun. I turn the car on, and hit the next track on the deck. (I had a 56-track MP3 disc in at the time.) The song ticker for MP3 information was NOT on at the time. About five seconds into the track, he goes, "This is Dream Machine, by Ton TB, right?"
My jaw just about hit the center console in my car. My grandfather is 64 years old.
I was like, "What did you just say?" He had no idea why I was so surprised. Apparently, he has been listening to trance for the past year or so on TranceAirwaves, DI.fm, and even manages to catch a Radio 1 broadcast every now and then. He had no idea that I listen to trance, nor could he understand why I was so shocked and amazed. He simply said, "It's damn good music. Who wouldn't listen to it?"
This might not seem like much to some people, but to me, it's insanity. I seriously thought I was dreaming or something. I NEVER would have expected something like this.
Weird day, for sure. |
That's awesome! I wish I could get, even my parents, interested in EDM, in general. About the only thing I've found my mom to like is downtempo and that's not too big of a deal anyway. |
