just downloaded it now mate. will give u feedback in a bit :)
djianthomas
just listened to it now matey.

mixing 6.5/10 - althogher your mixing is quite good thoughout there is a big mistake between tracks 11 and 12, and between tracks 6 and 7 u just let the vinyl run out and start the next tune (not recommended in my opinion)

tune selection 7/10 - there are some quality tunes on here, but there are also a lot of older tunes on there as well. would have been a lot better in there where a lot more newer tunes. also i really dont like track 2, but this may be because i have really gone of vocals at the minute.

flow 8/10 - the only real cristism i can say is the jump from track 6 to track 7. track 6 is quite floaty and then track 7 is completely banging.

Althogther i really enjoyed your mix, and apart from the few points that i listed above, a quality set. keep it up matey :)

Will try to give this a listen soon :)

djianthomas: what's wrong with using old tunes? I use plenty of old tunes in my sets, interspersed with new. Don't you agree that it's about the quality of the tracks, not their age? ;)

there is nothing wrong with using old tunes, but i feel that there are too many on this mix. remember this is just my opinion. thats just what i feel, so he can either agree with what i am saying or disagree.i am only trying to help :)

thanks for the feedback,

about the mixing, i did it on one try and was on a long break so i admit a few mistakes, im thinking of re-doing it

i never let any tracks run out though, are you talking about from Dreaming to Bilingual? i mixed that, you can even hear the beats run out for a little bit :P

i redid transitions for last two, uploading new mp3 now.

i agree that the quality of the tunes should be more important than their age, however there are 2 important considerations to be made:
1) production style - some old tunes have an "outdated" production style that simply wouldnt flow well in an up to date set

2) "bigness" - there are some old tunes, in fact there are plenty of obscure prog tunes from 2000/2001 that you can play and no one would be able to tell they were produced such a long time ago, in fact most people probably wouldnt even be able to ID them. however, if you play an "anthem", especially one as old as dreaming, then people would have heard that many a time, and it doesnt sound half as good as it used to (believe me, ive ruined a lot of tracks by listening to them too much at home. they were brilliant tracks but id play them over and over again, sometimes 5 times a day and that kinda ruins the atmosphere very soon)
