Thread for the Locals to help the visitors with Info for anything and everything around the Loveparade.

From now on is the time when people all over will be organizing there trips to SF. As for myself I am flyin in from Florida for a week to go to LP and visit the city/citys. I dont know much about the citys and made this thread for locals to help us visitors out. Info that would be greatly appreciated would be where to stay/where not to stay, what airport to flyin to, where to visit(clubs, landmarks, ect.), transportation(also how long it takes to get from here to there), RECORD STORES, and most important what street this is on and how to get to it. TAs and I who are traveling in to SF for the LP greatly appreciate the help.

Cant wait to see you all there. A meet up would be grand! Ill add a list to this page of the info provided.

Too bad we can't plan anything until they give out some more information. :P

Ah, you can plan plenty. Boomer- hope to see you there, if I don't run into in vegas first!

I already have a blog entry on my site (http://www.brianfriedlander.com/dondebrian),
maybe I'll add more information to that - might be easiest.
Any other questions you have- I'll do my best to answer. I'm a native San Franciscan, I think I can help you out ;)

I personally think info will start to be released after Labor Day weekend after all the Labor Day weekend parties are complete (that's what a lot of the promoters are focusing on first). In the end, it's up to the groups who have floats to announce their own lineups. It would be improper (unprofessional) for the LP organizers to announce lineups before the float groups announce it themselves or tell the LP organizers to go ahead and do it.

My float lineups probably aren't finalized at this time. But apparently a ton of people have submitted apps for floats, which is good. It looks like there will be several afterparties, including one at SBC Park (where the SF Giants play) by Spundae / Godskitchen North America. At least that's what I've heard around and no one has disputed it.

Anyhow, this all leads me to a concern that I have because of what it seems like people are expecting...

Please realize this year's love parade is by no means intended to draw hundreds of thousands or tons and tons of people -- something people are expecting. It will draw thousands and thousands (tens-of-thousands?), yes, but it seems like everyone is expecting much more.

Their focus since the beginning hasn't been to try to make sure the lineups are full of world's top DJ...yes, there will be some big acts (hopefully), but then again it shouldn't matter. This is for people who love EDM, not people who love certain DJs. They want people of all types and from around the world to come to share their love of EDM. The focus should not be to get people to come specifically because a certain DJ is playing.

Anyhow, the goal, the plan, the hope is that this will turn into a yearly event and grow as the years go by. As it grows, the lineups will start to be more insane as more sponsorship money becomes available and as more people support it and go out for events where the profits go directly to the LP and for fundraisers.

This is largely going to be about the vibe. EVERYONE in this region who is doing something in the LP is very excited for it. There is an extreme silent buzz about it. It's going to be insane. The vibe is going to be intense. I can't wait!

you would probably get more help if you asked specific questions. i am not sure what you want to know, aside from your airport question - SFO is the closest but oakland has good deals on occasion(jetblue flies there)

Thanks, thats a start. I dont know much more specific i can be.
Maybe an example. Lets say you guys were going to come to Miami for WMC. The things i would answer to my first post would be.

Hotels to stay in
Downtown miami(right next to waterfront park where ultra is) -
-Reande(cheap, free breakfast)
-Holiday(little more pricyer but nicer)
-Ect.
South Beach-
Clevelander, ect.

Airport to fly into
Miami International

Places to visit
South Beach
Club Space(downtown miami)
Cro Bar(South beach)

Transportation
There is a rail car that runs from fort laud. to downtown 24/7 during WMC. In downtown and south beach there are tons of cabs that are the best transportaion. Parking is a bitch downtown, expensive. The drive from downtown miami to southbeach is about 20-30 min.

RECORD STORES
Groove records on south beach is the best.
In orlando it is the drop shop.

I can go more into depth but you guys should deffinatly now get the picture.

PhaseFour
might be the wrong place to do this, but whats a good and cheap way to get to SF from davis w/o a car? is bart a good option?

thanks
fupaking
Your best option is to take Amtrak train to Emeryville,
and then from Emeryville transfer to the BART.
I can't remember if the stations are nearby or what.
