The crowd was booing for like 10-15 mins until the judges changed the scores, which people and the commentators thought was still too low.

As for the tie breaker, they break the tie by giving the higher medal to the person with the most higher scores.

I saw that was just awful, those two judges should be taken out and lynched. :whip: Nemov is 100% class props to the crowd for letting those chicken officials know it. Too bad Hamm had to perform while ppl were still booing. It's amazing he was able to compete under those conditions.

I don't suppose anyone here is an expert in gymnastics and is qualified to know whether these people made any mistakes?

Personally I thought that Nemov gave the best performance and I most definetely though that the Canadian and Maylasian scores were well below what he deserved, however, one thing I did notice was that not one of the judges gave Nemov a score above 9.8. This leads me to rationally conclude that while Nemov may have given an excellent crowd pleasing performance, professional evaluation of these events consist of something more than a mere count of how many releases an athelete can do. This is gymnastics we're talking about ... if you want performance defined by one factor alone such as speed or strength than watch track and field or swimming.

Well even the commentators were saying how the judges were neglecting what the person was actually doing on the High Bar, and too busy focusing on the landings.

If that were the case than they would have similiary scored Hamm at a lower level since he took a small hop on his landing. Bear in mind that while some of the commmentators may have been former athletes (some of them at least) they are likely not privy to current IOC judging methodolodies nor have they spent careers spanning several decades devoted towards judging these specific events. They don't use the same judges for every gymnastic event, they use high bar specialists, floor specialists, etc. If even one judge had given Nemov a score higher than 9.8 I might be inclined to agree with you, however, the fact that none did is quite telling in itself.

I think emotions got the better of me to think like this, but I think they gave him a 9.812 was because of what happened before with that lousey scoring. Honestly, do you think that Hamm's High Bar was better than the Italians? Yet the judges still scored them the same.

Honestly though, the judging this year has been a mockary. Nearly as bad as the reffing in the World Cup. :tongue2

http://www.cbc.ca/story/olympics/na...test040823.html

He happened to be Canadian but I'd be going postal if it was another athlete from another country. Romanian guy falls twice on his routine and gets a higher score, which is wrong. So friggin lame and then Canada cries foul and the board says we are not hearing it but the head of the board is Romanian...how pathetic.

I lost any interest in Olympics at that moment. Nemov deserved second or first place and not only according to me but according to experts.

They try hard to show that Olympics are based on unity between nations but it is obvious that its all based on money and ideology. This is not bad but at least they shouldn't make it so obvious. Nevertheless, Salt Lake City 2002 was even more ridiculous.

I dunno, I think the Gold went to the right person, the Italian did a great job and his landing was alittle better than Nemov's. But Nemov DEFINITELY deserved a medal - his performance was stellar.

First of all, why the hell were 10 men in the high bar final? In finals they are supposed to be the 8 better perfomers, not the 10 better. And in the other hand, gymnastics judges suck, they always score higher to famous athletes (except Nemov's case). Gymnastics is an amazing sport, but they have to deal with this judges, and change the scoring, just to make it a sport when the best are the winners.
