This hurts the olympics

I thought the Olympics was supposed to be fair and unbiased (for the most part) but after this happened, your stomach is sickened. I never watched the gymnastics cuz I can't stand it but cheating an athlete of a medal for another one is lame

http://www.cbc.ca/story/olympics/na...test040823.html

He happened to be Canadian but I'd be going postal if it was another athlete from another country. Romanian guy falls twice on his routine and gets a higher score, which is wrong. So friggin lame and then Canada cries foul and the board says we are not hearing it but the head of the board is Romanian...how pathetic.

yea, that does kind of suck. i dont see how anyone can get over a 9.0 score with falling on an attempt. just to correct you, he fell on the second jump, the first one he get a 9.9 (wow). but ya, cheating anyone out of a medal is in sick. the competitors train all their life and when seeming to have earned a medal, and possibly the only chance they get, and they are cheated out, it is really bull.

it was a sympathy vote b/c the Romanian tied with the Canadian the night before and the other judges gave the gold to the Canadian

in the olympics, dont they have a tie breaker to see who wins the gold and silver, if its a tie breaker, then it is fair and square that one gets a gold and the other a silver. was it the two same competitors, because even though they are representing their country, iw ould think they want a medal for themselves

where has been the common sense at these olympics??

Its not like a bad call in a basketball game and the game is over. You can't replay the game but you can investigate the bad referring.

This is 4 years of glory for WHO IS THE BEST. Hopefully these scoring people relize WTF their doing or should not of been there in the first place.

The heavyweight boxing finals were ruined by poor refereeing too.....

I saw the bronze medal fight, Australia vs Egypt. An Egyptian offical picked the judges and referees for the fight. The Australian fighter was landing scoring punches, yet the score appeared either not to count - or go up on the EGYPTIAN's score!!!

Not only that, the Egyptian fighter kept holding the Australian. You are meant to recieve two warnings and then have two point penalties after that. The Egyptian received at least EIGHT warnings, no penalties.

The (British) commentators said that it was a disgrace. The crowd booed (loudly) on announcement of the result.
Needless to say, the Egyptian won.

A quote from the Australian, "What can you do, he's got my medal now, the bastard"

Every Olympics there seems to be a MASSIVE stuffup with judging - first the Korean (I think) who was robbed of a gymnastics medal by getting the wrong difficulty score, which resulted in three judges being suspended, now what torontotrance is saying, now this boxing.

Not to mention the figure skating two years ago...........

hypothetically if there is a tie in the olympics then they should just have a tie breaker!:p

i think if their is a tie for gold or silver or bronze, both players should get that medal, as they both have acheived the highest score in the competition. i was reading about paul hamm's silver medal and it said he got a tie score with someone and they had a tie breaker. i mean what the , two people have the highest score, and one person gets a better medal, its in stupid, not to mention the judging

I heard bitching about it on internet forums changes things

I just watched the High Bar competition, I found it rediculous what happened to Alex Nemov. And the crowd let everyone know it too, the Canadian and Malaysian judges gave the guy an incredibly low mark for an incredibly difficult routine. The crowd was booing for like 10-15 mins until the judges changed the scores, which people and the commentators thought was still too low.

As for the tie breaker, they break the tie by giving the higher medal to the person with the most higher scores.
