shopping for a computer

I'm shopping for a computer for my "less computer adept" brother, and a decent production computer for myself.
I know what I need in my bro's comp. but he's paying, so I need to stay under a budget amount.
Does any1 know of any GTA local computer shops that do custom machines, and even better... have websites where I can do custom configs with price quotes???
As for my computer, I'm stuck between getting a G4 laptop or a new PC, primarily for audio work/production/etc. I've got no budget but wanna spend no more than $4000, preferably under $3000.
Open for any suggestions!!!!! I'm in Richmond Hill, so anything nearby would help too, but travel is irrelevant if the price of the system is right. |

Build your own - don't be lazy.
That is my advice. |

tigerdirect usually has some nice deals on seperate parts, and they do also sell full systems too.
best buy finder (no affiliation with best buy :p) has a sweet low-price finder for computer parts too. found a great deal on a vid card from a bc company.
good luck :) |

I use to be all about building your own, but I'm too lazy. Troubleshooting parts that don't work, bah ..
To add to the topic, yes, canada computers has cheap prices, as does www.pccanada.com |

www.logiccomputerhouse.com
they have better prices than Canada Computers, and a bit better service(comparing their respective mississauga stores) too. ive built a few computers from here.
and if you need more selection, you can go to www.infonec.com, prices arent as good as logic's, but they have a larger selection of parts to choose from. |

if you chose the parts, you might as well just build it yourself and save money. chosing the parts is the hard part.
to build, you put it together, and pop in the windows cd, and its easy as pie from there |

Exactly!
Fcuk - it's not like we're sending a man to the moon. Get the gear, plug it in and you're set! |

but idon't know what parts aren't compatible with what, such as RAM to the MB, and the CPU to the MB, etc. |
