Trance Nation... over =(

Sadly... it has ended.

*ring ring*
Me: Hello?
Nunos: Hi this is **** from Nuno's. How are you doing?
Me: I'm doing good thanks, and you.
Nunos: Good. Is this a bad time?
Me: No it's a great time *expects to hear the words "you're hired" or something*
Nunos: I just wanted to let you know that we won't be doing that trance thing anymore... so there is no need to come next week... or next week. We're going to be strictly live now.
Me: *whimpers and gets confused because Nuno changed the name to Nightclub and it got redesigned to be a club*
Nunos: Yeah... we only got one paying customer last Friday. So we're taking another root. Thanks though.
Me: No problem... bye now.
Nunos: Bye

It was fun while it lasted... I guess the 6 friends I bought wasn't enough... maybe it's because they let them in for free so they didn't count as customers. They even shut down everything at midnight despite the fact my friends were dancing to me...

Thanks... I might have a possible job opportunity at SideKicks on Congress. Hopefully I can get a regular thing there for money.

I'll also give my latest demo to Craig @ Sky/Vue. Maybe something could happen.

Sky really needs a trance night.

The people who said they never cared in the first place... why? This is a trance board isn't it??

Those people are either 1) a prick from this local forum or not who just chose that to piss you off. 2) A local who truly did not care.

I get more pissed off about the 2nd type of person. They are the ones who typically think stuff like "the scene in sucks" or "the scene isn't what is used to be". But they never bothered to think about the reason why the scene is bad in their city. Its because they do not support THEIR local scene/djs. Sure they'll make it out to the big name djs but they never bother to support their locals.

It is no suprise to me that Trance Night @ Nunos is no more. Quite a few of us knew it was bound to happen. The "club" owner didnt really know the first thing of running a sucessful night club.

PS A lot of us here @ TA listen to all sorts of EDM not just trance. ;)

yeah and by the way, it's San Antonio, not Houston. I don't think there ever was a Houston crowd.

Werd-o-matic :p

I am sorry that I never got to see Trance Nation. I figured it would probably survive for a little while and then the club owner would eventually shut it down.

Unfortunately running a club sometimes forces people to do what they have to do rather than what they want to. If customers aren't coming, cover isn't being paid and drinks aren't being sold then it is economically unfeasible to keep the doors open, pay electricity on lights and sound, staff a bar and door etc.

I am sure you guys will find a new spot to host Trance Nation and I wish yall luck with that. Just make sure that it is properly promoted and that more people come. I will try my best if you get it restarted.

Dirk, we weren't the ones running the night, as much as it seems like we were at times... we (Octane, myself and Hoyt) were simply DJing there so it's more like 'don't worry you'll find another place to spin' lol. Trance Nation is dead, but most of us aren't surprised; shame though, just one more thing to dampen our enthusiasm for the Texas EDM scene. That said, I'm far from giving up this passion!

OOPS! I was tired and pissed when I wrote this. By Houston, I meant San Antonio.

The only reason we ever had a crowd was because people from San Antonio seemed to bring van-loads of patrons. When they stopped coming, so did their customers. I brought 6 friends last Friday, but they didn't pay so they didn't count. I wasn't about to have them spend $30.

Plan today: Polish up demo according to some feedback I got back on it
Plan Friday: Pimp the demo all over 5th and 6th street and contact my friend Nick and see how that possible job opening at Sidekicks is. Other clubs I'm going to drop my demo at:
• Sky <-- I've been talking to Toddy B and Craig lately, maybe I might have my best chance here
• Boys Cellar <-- I walked by their club and heard trance one time
• Paradox <-- now pretty much a stupid rap club, but maybe if they do want a trance night, I coud help
• Element <-- a once awesome club, now another stupid rap club, I'll try to win them over as well

Any other suggestions.
