About Sirocco's sample pack

I don't like doing this sort of thing, but I feel it needs to be brought out into the open. I wouldn't have made a new thread, except I can't locate the original thread posted in the production studio. A mirror of the first post exists here (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=206943)

His most recent sample pack "Elements of the Groove Merchant" contained a loop strikingly similar to one used in a professional production a few years back. Sirocco has said that he has since removed the loop from the sample pack, but I still feel the need to bring this out into the open, so that you producers out there can ask yourselves the question I will not ask.

Below are samples of what I have mentioned. The first is loop #3 from the sample pack, looped 4 times @ its' native speed of 130 bpm. The second is a cut from Ogenki Clinic - First Light.

It's for this reason that I'd never use a loop in a production that wasn't made by me personally. Biting a kick as a point of reference is one thing IMO (since so many kicks these days are probably bites of bites of bites of bites of A&B or PVD, hehe), but a full on loop like this carries a distinct feel and creativity to it that goes beyond taking a couple of perc samples and putting them together.

hmmm, thats a bit of a pickle.

It is fairly obvious that this wasn't just a coincidence, which makes me ask how someone could be so stupid?

I don't post on here anymore because people seem to take my judgments on other people who bring a bad name to these forums and lash out at me. I've already warned everyone of a few guys on here and almost all of you put me down. Sirocco is a special case. I actually warned many people about him but nobody seemed to listen.

Gather round the fire, I'll tell you a story.

Sirocco, when I first met him on a Efnet mirc audiowarez channel had posted a clip of something he did on the channel. It was a small demo of a track that he was telling the other chatters on the channel is a new track he produced which he was shopping around to labels, which is why only a demo was available for us to listen. He began telling others on the chat how he used a radio shack mic to make the vocals, etc.. Well when i copy pasted the link i noticed the track was a ferry corsten remix of a new F Massif track. So i private messaged him with the intent to expose him. First i played it cool and told him his demo rocked. He then continued in detail mind you to explain how he came up with the vocals using a radio shack mic, and other elaborate production techniques. Well I couldn't believe someone could lie like this, truely scary, yet sad, well then i told him i had a demo for him, so what i did was take the full mp3 of the ferry corsten remix and relabeled it as DJ RipOff, and sent it to him. Obviously once he heard the track he knew I knew he was full of , in which case he didnt respond and ultimately left the channel.

I had seen him on various chat mirc audio channels before and he would post clips of tracks he diud and they were amazing. I thought he was Sirocco , the producer behind the Solar Stone/Sirocco track- Destination, which is what he implied he was.

Flash to the future, I was talking to a friend and i was mentioning him and he told me a story very similiar to the one i just told you about how he sent my friend a track, and later my friend realized it was a track by another artist signed to a label. When he confronted Sirocco, he said that his track was stolen off his ftp by this producer and signed.

Now the packs he makes are basically just kicks he took from sample cds and tracks as you just found out the hard way. I recognized a few kicks and loops from sample cds i have, considering a i have like 300 there arent many loops that can get by me. You can still use his loops that he takes credit too as they are all taken from sample cds and are free to use.

It's sad in a way, maybe he has good intentions by lying, maybe just wants to be a part of a community, hes only 17, if he wants to be a great producer one day hes gotta be himself and start working hard and actually taking it one step at a time. There are alot of kids on these forums who want pro sounding tracks after a few weeks. it's doesnt work like that, it takes years of hard work to become a great producer. It's a learning process and i see alot of kids out there asking the wrong questions, or buying the expensive synths thinking it'll make them a better producer. The internet is a immense universe of knowledge, tapping into its resources can yield incredible results.

this is a great way to spend your free time. print out these articles and read, make production a 8th course at school. study it like you would study anything else. if u enjoy it, you'll understand it, and you'll benefit from it. peace

:( :( :(

i think this is sad. If what trancenrg said is true, it is really sad. I wonder how people can get any satisfaction by having great comments on music / samples they didnt even make.

just the other day, listening to his sample pack, was thinkin : w00t he's 17 only and he makes really great samples

i'd like to have a reply from sirocco now to see what he thinks about trancenrg's accusation.

I'll just say a few things here. True, he is young, he's 17 and like a lot of us he seeks affection. So, some of the above stories seem very likely.

But.

I've known Sirocco for a while now and while my B.S. meter occasionally goes off, I can vouch for his production skills.

He has sent me Nuendo files that contain 5 to 7 kicks, all EQd to produce a new kick, then the compostite kick sample. I'm not saying he makes all of his kicks, but he does definitely have a talent, an ear, for making them and he does make some of them without a doubt.

Also, Sirocco is quite good at EQing and producing very clean clips that are quite impressive. Again, I have seen the Nuendo files so there is little doubt that he actually did these himself.

Melodically he isn't that great but that's just not his focus right now. And like a lot of us trying to put together an entire song he struggles. The specific reason is that he needs to work on his arrangement and structure (again, like most of us need to) and having such fastidious sonic standards his CPU is always being swallowed by his high end plugins.

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve some form of reproachment, far from it. The idea that he would do some of the aforementioned things disappoints me. While he occasionaly undermines his reputation by being less than honest (sometimes being flagrantly dishonest) I do feel that it's important that everyone here know that he isn't talentless.
Sirocco
this is rediculous....

that wa snoti me on the chat for one. thats utter bull.

ive been working my ass in production for almost 2 years now, and have complete master cubase fles of all my final work.

please, i used 1 loop by accident that wasnt mine which I thought was, but I know u guys understand, this is rediculousd, i know how people jump to conclusion over logic sometimes, and i dont want any trouble...

hope you guys understand
Sirocco
i still dont understand about trancenrgs accusation thought (?)

if u can tell me who the user was id like to know

while it is true i have a oversizex d amount o fsamples cds, i get flustered sometimes and get my stuff mixed up

when i take a single bongo hit from a sample cd, eq it, and map it to c, pitch it up and down for a seuqnece and add other sounds, thats not original?

i cant go record a bongo, and i assumed that was known

very well said, i dont think ud find kicks as good as mine on sample cds, wel..maybe thats being pompous or overconfident..but i would know i have so many...they are pretty so itsd not something to boast abbout iguess..this is what i poste dinr eply to trance3's discoveries of the loop:
"
thank you for spotting that loop now i know why i cant rmemebr when i made it..it sounded so clean i assumed it was not from a library or track-rip, whioch would usually have noiise or artifacts from my experience

i dont want to look like a common thief, y'know?"
