Hahaha, it did seem kinda odd to me that the original tribute thread was closed within minutes, while this second one's been going on for days. Well, that explains it now.
Anyway, while I don't really care about tribute threads and I agree that it's kinda pointless to post in them, if someone really wants to open one, it's fine by me as long as it isn't spamming. |

If it was actually closed by a mod i would disagree with it. It wouldnt be the first thread that wasnt exactly on subject in this forum, so it would have been kinda disrespectful. though i dont think it has anything to do in this forum. |

The problem with your "tribute"-thread is that is draws forth some lives as more important than others, and that is why you are probably going to have a hard time drumming up enthusiasm.
Why didn't you make a thread on the anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan? Or Iraq? Didn't the loads of people killed in those places warrant a mention from you?
I have a very negative impression of you, so maybe I am wrong on this one, but so far you seem to be very much a person who values US lives (and even comfort) much higher than the well-being of people in the rest of the world. I am (of course) ready to be corrected by a clear-cut link.
But if I am right, then please go away. |

you know that you can start your own thread, then close it so nobody can post in it. i did that about a week ago, with the "4 More Years" Thread :toothless that way all the libs couldn't bash it, and i got a quick point accross.

Who closed the thread? I did. I made it and closed it within minutes. Because the other day in the library, I was reading something about 9/11, when this guy came up to me, and said "you guys deserved it" I hit him in the face and left.
Made me pissed for the next few hours, and looking at how simple threads on these boards can turn into hellholes where people goat each others comments, i closed it so no crap like "you deserved it", "its bushs fault" comes up. it was just a simple thing for someone to view and reflect on throughout the day.
so there, answers your questions.
Meanwhile, someone coulda just made another one anyways!
(im still somewhat troubled as how I can close it but can reopen it. ????) |

| I don't see why it has be involving the American government, politics is politics and if it applies here then so be it. I feel that the 9.11 thread applies to this forum, not just because of the American Gov't, if affected a lot of governments and influenced politics in a lot of countries. Politics was behind Bin Laden's decision, not just hate. I'm not asking for the danish guy to love America, I never said that, I'm saying let the Americans mourn the lost of their disasters. In Canada, we still mark the anniversary of Marc Lepine's rampage of killing at the Polytechnical school in Montreal, so should we forget that because it happened many years ago? should we stop talking about it? I still think it applies to politics and that's the forum's title and point. That crime continues to have people going against my government to toughen some laws, that's politics. |

| even though the thread poster closed his own topic, I still think it doesn't invalidate the discussions that were had in this thread. We saw the points of views that everyone had on the situation and where everyone stands along with the reasons for their choosing. |

Ya well maybe if you lost friends that day (like i did).or maybe if you saw with your own eyes planes attacking your city and then buildings crumbling to the floor running for your life thinking you are going to die and there is no other way out, watching grown men weep, people jumping from the 90th floor of buildings to their death like i did and not on television you would have a tad more compassion...but you didnt..while you were sleeping on the west coast this is what i personally experinced... |

(1) Buildings can be replaced.
(2) People shouldn't be afraid to die.
(3) A weep every now and then is good for the soul, if you happen to have one.
(4) Who said I didn't have compassion for those who decided to throw themselves from high above and end their lives because there was no other choice?
(5) I wasn't sleeping when the attacks happened.
(6) It was your city, tomorrow it might be mines.
(7) Nothing wrong with the west coast.
