Yeah, Barber's "Adagio For Strings" was in Platoon. Quite frankly, it spooked me because you have this serene, lush piece of music... and then the shots start ringing out. That spooked me the first time.

Yes! :) Like I mentioned above, the composer of the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack is Clint Mansell. Who also did a fine job on "Pi" with those Amen breaks and ants.

This is one website that does film score reviews:

Here's another -- Don Davis of The Matrix fame has his site hosted here:

Cheerio. :D |
Thanks, Pi was a grade A movie as well. I didn't realize it was the same guy who did both soundtracks. I think Bronofski (sp. wrong maybe) is working on a new movie, maybe we'll get another beautifully melded movie and music experience. :happy2: |

Note: A site that lists movie music/soundtracks would be nice too. thanks. |
in addition to the sites Torley Wong suggested, don't forget about www.imdb.com , if you haven't been already, theres a slew of information about any movie you can think of on there.
sometimes soundtrack listings are given, but not always..

Ozone - rock
William Orbit - Adagio for strings (Ferry Corsten remix)
Dj tiesto - Adagio for strings
It might be called a brutal act of terrorism but i'm working on a trance track based on the main theme from schindlers list ,too bad i have'nt done anything in it for over a month :sadgreen: |

Not a bad list of tracks. Just wondering, but is Ghost in the Machine the main track for Requiem for a Dream. By main track I mean the one with the same note sequences except at different tempos and stuff, the one they play when everything is going ty and is sad (pretty much the entire movie after the dealer dies). |

why would that be a brutal act of terrorism? The main track, if i remember correctly, was orchastraed by Itzhak Perlman? Did he write that score especially for that film? or did Speilberg use it from somewhere else?
Anyways it's just a song, i'd say more power to you if you can remix it. Some people may think you're trying to lighten up a depressing and haunting film by remixing the score for it. Well.. in that perspective they may be right.
Still, I think it's more of a "Respect" issue than a "Brutal Act of Terrorism" |

of course we all know the Ferry Corsten and Tiesto remixes...
still i think the score by itself if powerful enough. Especially at the end of The Elephant Man (1980). Beautiful |
The Ferry Corsten remix is the best, in my opinion :) |

Thanks, I forgot IMDB. It is a fine, fine resource. I remember when it was a very crude-looking website but oh-so-fast loading, but now it has sooo many Flash ads on it. How times change. |

Same here, I don't recall it being in there at all. |
i think the leama & moor song was inspired by the theme
it's kind of hard to really tell, but the name intrigued me when the tune came out, as i loved the movie even back then, and i listened attentively. i think there are some similarities with the original, i.e. key, atmosphere. |
