and yes boomer I read ;)

One thing I do know (on topic) is that anti-depression medication can seriously mess you up. The girl I'm dating was telling me about how she was on Paxil for a while and it seriously messed her up, it gave her anxiety attacks and such when it was supposed to help with it. After she got off it she said it was even worse for a long time.

Pills aren't the answer!

out of curiosity how old are you ? since you live in toronto and if you happen to go out partying on week ends ?

Im only 15 . LOL.Sucks to miss DJs like Markus Schulz at the Guverment.

just like any medication , there's a minority of people that can't stand it (allergy , bad reaction , etc ...) , but i won't go and say pills anti-depressants are bad.

if you want to get yourself out of depression , pills + therapy can you help you.

man i'm sure it's nothing bad , all teenagers go thru some bad moments , you're still young and have plenty of time ahead of you to enjoy life and stuff :)

Suicide. It's the only option.

And for liability reasons, disregard the above statement.

From age 17-21 I had been depressed, pretty bad too. No motivation, negative attitude, no confidence, nothing. Sometimes I would be sitting around not thinking about anything in particular and I would get sad and start to cry for no reason. For years I was told to tough it out, or denied that I was depressed. Finnally, I broke down and got some Lexapro from my doctor. I took it for about a year with no therapy. Now? I am no longer depressed, and I am not taking the medication. Occasionally I will take some St. John's wort if I feel a bit of anxiety, but that is not very often. I agree, anti-depressants are risky for the younger kids. But for people a bit older like I was, it works great. Mind you these pills aren't for anyone who just feels down occasionally, I had serious depression, I felt "blue" for years. Those who say they can mess you up, well that might be true, but that is not true for EVERYONE. Anti-depressants have come a long way and have really helped a lot of people. Talk with your doc if you think it is that bad and see what he says. Or maybe try taking some St. John's wort with maybe a mixture of herbs such as kava kava, valerian and l-tyrosine. NOW foods make a good supplement called St. John's wort mood plus. That is what I take sometimes, works great. Hope this all helps.

paxil and zoloft are horrible, dont take them. there are a slew of other medications to take, try effexor or something. and yeah pills dont totally help, you need therapy or something to go along with it. then it really works. good luck.

Paxil and Zoloft are crap, and the only one that somewhat works is Effexor XR. Don't get on any medication though - at least not right now. Who cares whether your 'friend' invited you for a movie or not? It's her loss! And if that is the only thing that's making you upset, you're not 'depressed'. You can only change what you control, so don't worry about what you can't. You can't control whether your friend invites you to a movie or not, but you can control how YOU react to it and let it affect you. You may study your ass off for some test - that's something you do control - but once it's done, forget about it, 'coz the grade you're gonna get is in the teachers/professors hands, not yours. Anyway, get outdoors, get to the gym, just get doing something - anything - that'll keep your mind occupied. Speak to other people about how you feel if you want. Post on this board if it makes you feel better. Nuthin' wrong with it. And like others have said, re-evaluate yourself and make the changes you deem necessary. It IS a lot harder than it sounds - I went thru it - but it sure beats wallowing in one's self-pity. REMEMBER - if something is not in your control, brush it aside immediately, don't even think about it. Start from there and slowly but surely you'll feel a whole lot better.

...............but then again, what do I know? ;)
