How to get out of Depression (pg. 5)
View this Thread in Original format

Hey romchik:

A good way to get out of a down mood is to listen to soothing music and write down a list of areas you can improve on in yourself. Instead of feeling helpless, put the control in your hands and do something positive and constructive. It's never too late to start anew and resolve past "frictions" smoothly.

If you feel you're chronically depressed, then perhaps seeking professional help may be of use. Feel better chica :)

Killing oneself is never the answer. It's like running away from your own problems, in hopes that you'll never have to encounter them again. I believe in karmic retribution, which means that if you do something "bad" you'll have to pay for it either in this life or the next (I also believe in "souls" and how they don't die after one lifetime.) Killing a life, let alone your own, would be disastrous from any perspective. ilovetrance2k3-- bad bad advice :whip: ;)

start exercising and eating right...i know it gets said over and over and sounds cliche' but it the absolute truth. you'll feel like a new person.

if you hang around people who aren't true friends or druggies...lose em, and make new ones. not to sound like a hipocrite (i do drugs), but i'm just giving you advice from personal experience...if you are depressed, you definitely shouldn't be around drugs.

go to a shrink, but i would recommend a therapist first...don't be so quick to hop on the antidepressant bandwagon. try to get to the root of the problem first.

whatever you do, don't sit around and wallow in self pity and complain and blame the past or your parents or whatever...get off your ass and do something about it and make a change for the better.

Well if you're home on a friday night, why not go to the gym? You don't need friends to work out. Your body will feel healthier and your confidence will rise eventually :) On the wat you'll probably meet some new people too, wich could lead to a close friend.

i was in a real bad state last year with depression. i tried therapy but they told me to do stupid for the symptoms of my problems that i found more insulting than anything else and made me realize that only i could help myself out of the depression. i had to make a conscious decision that i wanted out of it. i decided to make some big changes in my life and change who i was. i did it and i am in a very happy place right now. i'd like to say you can do this but i think it depends on the person. i am convinced that not everyone is capable of changing their life by pure willpower and that some people do need chemical help to get out of the depression. one thing i do know though is that depression is ing hard to live with but it is also addictive.

If you are into any drugs or drinking a lot. Quit. That is the biggest reason for depression. It's hard though. You probably need to enjoy your work as well. I stopped smoking weed and feel better, but I need to cut back on weekend drinking. Keep it more minimal. Will be better for the wallet too. All that stuff sets your balance off. Surround yourself with positive people and get away from the negative ones.
