i want a P4 (but i don't know which type to choose) , with a good motherboard and a good video card (with TV out). basically i wanna be able to play games likes Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 without lagging.

what about memory ? DDR or something else ?

and a good DVD +/- burner.

let's say i have a 1500$ (US) budget ... what would you pick ?

I love picking out computer parts... i'm compiling a list now...get back to you soon

rather than creating a new post, i am just editing this. The total price is 1,831.99. This is just for the main stuff... you still need a case and power supply etc. If you cant save up for a few more months then you can always take 1gb of ram than 2gb...

ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe

ASUS ATI RADEON X800 PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-Bit

Intel Pentium 4/ 3.2E GHz (i decided to pick a 3.2 rather than a 3.4 and 3.6 because the performance increase is really not worth twice the money.)

CORSAIR VALUESELECT Kit 240-Pin 2GB(2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-4200 FAST RAM!

2Hitachi 120GB 7200RPM SATA for all your trance mp3s

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS for trance mp3s

and Lite-On 16X DVD Dual Drive, Model SOHW-1633S Black, OEM to burn trance CDs

AMD Athlon 64 (socket 939) + ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder x800 on a ASUS AV8 motherboard with OCZ 512x2MB ram.

The All-In-Wonder has TV Out and will run Doom3 and HL2 VERY VERY well. The Athlon 64 on socket 939 is one of the best CPU's around; performs just as good as it's P4 competition, and costs less. As for DVD Burners, look into stuff from Plextor.

With 1500US, that should definately be enough for a system like that. I'm looking into buying a new PC myself and I found that system for $1737CDN

thanks a lot guys :)

let's say i take this :

ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe

ASUS ATI RADEON X800 PRO Video Card, 256MB DDR, 256-Bit

Intel Pentium 4/ 3.2E GHz

CORSAIR VALUESELECT Kit 240-Pin 1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 FAST RAM!

1 120GB HARD DRIVE 7200RPM SATA

Lite-On 16X DVD Dual Drive, Model SOHW-1633S Black, OEM to burn trance CDs

how much would it cost ?

Go ahead and buy all of the top of the line hardware, tomorrow, so by next month you can kick yourself square in the ass for having wasted hundreds (even thousands). Go for second best in computer hardware. Always. Top of the line is never the best for longer than a month.

I've been building computers for a long time. I run an Athlon 2100+ clocked at 2400+ speeds, 1.5GB of PC2700 HyperX from Kingston, an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard, and an ATI 9700 Pro voltmodded and bios flashed to 9800+ speeds. Coupled with dual 80GB Western Digital 7200RPM SE hard drives and nice Lite On CD and DVD burners, I spent about $1k. (Over a year ago.)

All of this is from newegg.com the only place to buy computer parts. $1,426.99 plus shipping, plus things like a case, and power supply fans etc
fastmp3
fits my budget :D let's just hope i'll find these components down here in morocco
Sunsnail
ouch, the prices might go up then. I think newegg will ship internationally. They use fedex

edit: nevermind

No international/Canadian shipments
fastmp3
customs will me up anyway , it's better buying it , besides i heard the prices aren't that different ... the only problem is : finding these components i want might be hard

You dont need a X800- sheesh-
No game out right now can even take advantage of it.

I just bought a ATI Radeon Pro 9800 for $180
they just dropped like $70

Do you want tv OUT or IN? There is a difference.
Most cards already have OUT built in. If you want to watch TV and stuff on your computer then you need an IN card.

Athlon 64's have been rated best for computer gaming actually.
Price breakdown suggests your best bet is an Athlon 64 3000
Gig of ram. 8x 128mb Video card- Radeon 9800 pro is the best price break card out right now.

Im rambling.
fastmp3
i want TV OUT :) which video card do u suggest then and its price ?
