Dood - what I'm saying is not that pricing isn't good but the pricing simply doesn't merit any sort of quality service.
They're over-selling capacity. Maybe you need a host to just host some static html, very little graphics, etc - in which case I'm sure it's fine.
Anything more and I'm confident that the quality of the service is going to be less than exceptional. |

Personally I don't like switching web hosts every 3 months because of service problems.
I'd rather pay the market rate for something knowing that it will last me a few years rather than jump from provider to provider every few months.
It's up to you - perhaps you don't have any db driven applications and such that is a pain to move - but I do, so I can't afford to gamble on someone that is under-pricing the market and over-selling their capacity. |

| I'd do a quick search on reviews on canaca from other existing/ex users. I've heard they're not that good in terms of uptime, tech support, setup, contract, etc.... |

Goood points all around RJ, I should find out more about quality before I make the switch. Good thing for me is that my site is not complicated at all .. and thanks for the tip Loca.
Basically, I need a site that makes downloading my original productions easy. That's all. So the more space I have the better.. and I guess download speeds should count for something..
Anyway, has anyone else heard anything good or bad about canaca.ca? |

Canaca ING RULES. Bucky and Eso both sent me there, and Joe Drust and I put his site there, and my site will be there in the coming weeks.
SICK transfer rates (250+), and NO downtime to date! |

| I've been with them for almost a year, and every time I've had a problem I've emailed there support and gotten a quick response. The transfer rates are awesome, the user control panel is awesome, the cost is great.. as for downtime, I've experienced some here and there - but nothing thats been for an unacceptable amount of time. If you know what you're doing, chances are you'll never need support anyways. |

i've been with canaca for over a year, since then i've had several down-times. their tech support is not so great either, however their prices are unbeatable!
rj: isn't their Dedicated server package awesome? I'm moving the System Soundbar website over to Canaca and signing them on the FDS. |

You might as well get 4 gold packages ($100 / month, 3 month pricing) and get the exact same for half the price. |

Oh, Canaca... I've used them 2 years ago, but had so much downtime and problems with their tech. support (it took them a while to answer any of my trouble tickets), and so I've given up on them pretty quickly. And yea, back then they had the same kick-ass prices (compared to everyone else in the industry at the time), so hopefully they worked out their issues with downtime and tech. support in the last 2 years.
EDIT: I've just checked out some reviews on them, and apparently they have 30,000 customers and some 30 tech. support people in India/Pakistan or something like that... and a lot of people are still complaining about their tech. support (not being clear in responses, not knowing what the solution is, not issuing refunds, the 1-800 not being answered at all, etc).
As RJ put it, too good to be true... |

| wouldn't having a FDS be better then any of their shared server packages? less chances of down-time. plus with a FDS you can host as many domains as you want. that to me is worth $220. |
