that settles the "im promoting for the artist" argument, it's simply not true.

This didn't even cross my mind when I did it and in all honesty, I did just want to others to hear it, but when Max told me this it made sense, and I would def not do it again. |
come on man take your johnson out of his mouth. I can see it now, ministry of sound reneges on a contract because they saw the song on tranceaddict amateur dj promotion section. As much as i like max's music and sets i think hed be alot better off if he spent his time making music and not policing the TA forums. Its the great debate. But i guess id be pissed to if i saw geeky kids ing around with my music.
and what a ing loser wicked neo is. someone should remind him how this site got popular in the first place. ill give you one hint: its not the forums! That guy needs to go jerk off or get laid or something cause his arrogance might get him fired from his well paid job of tranceaddict forum moderator. |

First trance sets were sent to me from a Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear clan mate from California (hence my user name: "USMC_Greg"). He sent me a Judge Jules set, a DJ Fuzion set, and a Tiesto set. Checked the tags, and found this site. Joined the forums not long after that.
All I know is that Fuzion sets were da bomb (even if he played a milk inc song or two) :D |

similar story for me......came to discover TA ONLY for the free mp3 songs........only came to the site to get songs for 2 years before i ever came onto the forums

I'm in the same boat, and I'll agree with DiscoJoe's post being the best and most honest in this thread.
Alec puts songs together for fun, not for profit. Hell, I know of a few people who had that track before Alec even put it in his ASOOT mix. Who cares if he put it in his set or not. For all you know Max, your track could have been all over the place, 'ripped' from another set. I guess you didn't have time to 'police' those boards though.
I'm a fan of the track, but not the attitude.
Like disco said, less time policing, more time producing please.;) |

Things have changed since the napster days, where a lot of ppl discovered TA because of the url in the mp3 tags, back then this site had less than a 2000 members, now it has over 30,000!
You have to change with the times, Mp3 back then was shared yes, but again most ppl were also on 56k, so it would take them anything up to an hour to download one track, most ppl DLed to sample tracks and then go buy the tracks / albums.
I supported MP3 big time back then because it did promote the artists and the music genre we love.
Now with the majority of us being on broadband, you can download a MP3 in less than 10 minutes, a lot quicker for those with fast connections and the idea of mp3 to promote is no longer valid in most cases.
I still think downloading of live sets should be OK, its great to hear the music we love played in a set by the DJ's that mix them so well, but singles and albums should be discouraged.
And one last thing discojoe, none of the moderators on TA get paid, Swamper the site owner does not get paid, in fact the running of this site, the bandwitdh used, the domain name etc is all paid for by Swamper, he pays to keep this site online, he keeps this site available for ppl like you to be able to post and discuss mostly what you like on his forums, so then if he does not want to encourage the downloading of mp3's or linking to places online where u can Download MP3's then i think you should respect him for that.

Well it was a sarcastic comment I made, i was pretty sure nobody got paid for moderating the webforums, but at least you explained yourself. But come on man this website's new stance now is rediculous. It wasnt that long ago swamper was hosting singles on the website and now you're picking on alec like he commited internet murder for downloading one. The only thing that came out of that little controversy was more promotion for Max Graham. And the honest truth on the MP3 debate is that internet being a little faster hasnt changed anything accept that people are able to download more and expose themselves to more they otherwise wouldnt have. What has changed is that swamper has probably been getting a bit more heat because the website is more popular now. At least admit that.
Anyway, if the website wants to distance itself from MP3's, thats fine, i think people can understand that. But please, that first post was such an unnecessary outburst, especially given this website's own history. It just looks incredibly hypocritical. |
