Coping with Ignorant People (pg. 2)

The next time she stands up to debate, if they insult her she should speak up.
Say something like "It's not very professional of you to insult someone during a debate. If you continue I'm sure the judge will take you out of the courtroom"
Since it's law class, this response would send the message home to the class and the teacher. Incidentally, why does the teacher allow the insults anyways?
There is nothing wrong with good strong opinionated debate, especially in law class. However, there is no room for insults. |

| Telling someone how to deal with conflict is not pointless. The topic is dealing/coping with ignorant people not one specific event or comment. |

I guess we cant all be so interesting like you, and want to talk about music and EDM all day long, or have topics of music running through our heads at every given moment. You see, some of us have "lives" outside of this so called chat area we call the "forum" and at times wish to express certain situations to ask for other people's opinion (which I think is stupid, but that's a whole different rant all together). So while you and many of your so called music nerds may only care for your music and midget porn (no need to be ashamed, we all knew somehow), we regular people like to enjoy and distress over these so called "lives and take music as a second facet in our everyday life... |

I think its funnier because in dealing with the irony of a pretty ignorant like me who uses insults to boost comedical usage of his debates. I had to defend the post by being one of the people his girlfriend hates!

Wow, I think this is the first time everyone has offered constructive assistance without it turning into some sort of battle field. Yay!
If one can't articulate their arguments constructively, then there's no point in retaliating; that person obviously has issues and she'd just be stooping to their level. She demonstrates a lot of character by not taking cheap shots at her opponent. I agree with everyone about her sticking with it.
I have to pose the same question as Jayx1, why hasn't the professor moderated such incidents? Is this a post-secondary class? Such insults are usually not tolerated at the University level, at least not in my exsperience.
Does she intend on litigating in the future? If so, she should prepare for a lot worse. |

regarding your question assuming you're right with your generalizaion. i think your girlfriend would be a failure in life to drop that class becasue of the ppl in it. Life is full of stupid ppl, if she can't deal with it now, how will she be able to do it later in life. if she hopes to be a lawyer, she prolly won't always be represting the brightest ppl in the world and will have to deal with it. |
