Im a big apple fan, sometimes one of those apple junkies, but lately, ive gotten pissed about apple products. (First example, why does apple need TWO processors @ 2.5ghz to beat a single 3.4ghz P4??? Unnacceptable!)

Anyways, heres my iPod rant, i en hate it, and im considering to sell it. Taken from another forum i posted it on:

So i used to have an MD.....top of the line back then: MZ-R900, the first and best of the LP series MiniDiscs. I gave it a good 2-3 years of play time. The thing ran for a good 60-70 hours of playtime. I sold it. Bought an iPod. iPod kicked ass until the battery life started going ape. Example: internal non-removable battery thats supposed to last even a measly 8 hours now lasts less than 1 hour. I paid 400 dollars to have this peice of good for ONE bus ride. UNACCEPTABLE. My MD, eventhough recording was a bitch, and storing music sucked, ie, lots of MDs, lasted. And i could carry with me a VERY SMALL extra battery which, would give me another 30 hours (and another 30 hours if using an additional AA battery, which still made it smaller than almost ANY other portable device). The iPod? Kinna bulky (en annoying), HEAVY, and no possibility of having a second battery on road trips, UNLESS i buy an external battery pack that makes the iPod more like an 80's sized cassette player. UNACCEPTABLE. My iPods battery dies almost on a DAILY basis, and in my 2-3 years ive had my MD batteries die no more then 5 times. (mind you, having a tiny spare in ure back pocket or somewhere, its easily "storeable" giving it TRUE meaning to portability.) If apple intends to take over the market with is MP3 player, it better put out something that lasts a MINIMUM of 20 hours on one charge, that DOESNT go down in life after 6 months, AND, why does it charge REGARDLESS when i connect it to my mac? Its half way full, and it recharges ANYWAYS? NO. I dont want to charge, since i know that is NOT GOOD for the battery, i want it to ONLY charge when the battery is COMPLETELY dead! And seeing how its also meant to be used a storing device and i take it to school to transfer my files for design classes, there NEEDS to be a function where it allows me to NOT charge it. FFS, are the apple engineers lazy or just stupid?

So im at the Sony Store here in Toronto. And i notice the new 20GB "MP3" player. At my amazement, it lasts up to 30 hours. PERFECT!!! And now i find out its gotta "CONVERT" tracks to ATRAC and only allows this like, 3 times? Yo, ive still got my ipod, and i got 30 gigs of music stored on DVDs and my HD, and ive HAD TO transfer files back and forth a lot more than once. Also, as for ATRAC/3 format, Sony is gonna fail with this redundant style of transferring music, does Sony not understand, that 90% of people who share music, use the MP3 format, and around half of my files are AAC?? If im given 20 GB of space to put my music on, im NOT gonna want to convert my music collection, and then AGAIN everytime i get more music.

So my questions ARE:

1) Is the new NW-HD1 compatible with a mac?
2) If it is, will it allow me to store files such as PSD files and be recognized as a portable device?
3) Is there a way of working around a HACK and having more then just "3" transfers to the player of a single track?

If all of those are "No" answers, i am SERIOUSLY thinking of buying back an MD recorder (also damn good for live recordings, DJ mix recording since i spin, and Im planning doing some experimental recording of the city), plus, im willing to put up with real time recording, so as long as when im on my trip to europe next year, i dont have to be pissed off about not having stuff to listen to when im on a train or bus. Im thinking of something like an MZ-R909/910, MZ-N1/10 or a HI-MD with non internal battery.

Any advice, please? And no, anyone who tells me iPods battery life isnt that bad, is a tool, you obviously dont use it enough and you obviously dont listen to music ALL THAT MUCH to actually want to spend 400 dollars on. Ive put the iPod to the test, and anyone who HASNT just wasted a lot of money becuase AGAIN OBVIOUSLY DONT NEED IT. Where as *I* do, because im on the go A LOT, and i take my music everywhere i go. Bus rides back home to kitchener on weekends, walking to school, walking to school, in class, out on random city photoshoots, and next year im most likely going to spend 2 months in poland and hopefully see europe.

SO PLEASE, someone here, PLEASE ing help me out. Im tired of iPod, everytime i use it now, i have a very big urge to just smash it against the ground and watch it shatter to peices, and im dead serious, one day i will do this.

I have had very few problems with my ipod, which i have had for over a year now. I would recommend anyone if price isnt an issue to go for the iPod with the experience i have had with it. I have used it every day since i bought it. Without a doubt i will buy the 60 gig when it comes out.

^Awesome link, bookmarked it. Id still buy a dual 2.5ghz Mac any, im currently on a dual 1ghz G4 with 768 MB ram with superdrive. Ive never had the need to format in 2 year. Although i will be doing so soon, lots of small files are taking up space on my puny 80GB HD. :( Oh well, 2 years was a nice ride! It still runs FAST AS HELL, and no pc ive ever touched has come close to performing as nicely as my mac. I can still count with my fingers how many times its crashed: like, 4 to be honest.

Hey you pissed guy you at apple !! NICE WORK.. You could buy an Creative Zen Nx/extra, they have app 14hours of battery capacity, and you can change battery too :) These you can get in 30/60 Gb
I took a picture for you, here its no doubt that you can change youre battery, if you have to:

The new Zen Touch, has a nice 24hour battery capacity, its non-removeable, but hey, its a whole day we're talking about...

The batteries that these players use are Lithium Ion, and there are no negative effects from recharging these batteries before they are completely drained. The first type of rechargeable batteries were Ni-CD (nickel cadmium) and they suffered from this problem you are talking about. Recharging them before they were drained messed up their life cycle. Later on came Ni-MH (nickel metal-hydride) batteries that aren't affected by the point you charge them at.

So, in short.. don't worry about charging your iPod / iRiver / Zen before the battery is drained.
P4z!
I ordered a Philips HDD120 a few days ago:

the reason i hate most of the jukeboxes aout there is
1. No ogg support
2. No plug N play
3. Must install software to upload to device
4. No future firmware update
