How about backing up your claims? What makes you think the iPod is more practical than the Zen?

And for their looks, I think they both look about the same. What little difference there is in looks surely can't be worth $150.

The batteries that these players use are Lithium Ion, and there are no negative effects from recharging these batteries before they are completely drained. The first type of rechargeable batteries were Ni-CD (nickel cadmium) and they suffered from this problem you are talking about. Recharging them before they were drained messed up their life cycle. Later on came Ni-MH (nickel metal-hydride) batteries that aren't affected by the point you charge them at.

So, in short.. don't worry about charging your iPod / iRiver / Zen before the battery is drained.

WRONG.

Did you even read at least the first line of my rant? iPod is , the engineers of it ed up SO BAD, that every iPod is going to after 2 years, and A LOT if not MOST are going down the crapper in one year.

If your point is true, explain why my iPod lasts me around 30 minutes now, as opposed to the claimed 8 hours im supposed to be getting? HMMMMMMM????????

I'm really loving the iRiver, but it has just come out, and like many mp3 players that I have baught, I dont want it to break down and screw me over since all the bugs arent fixed yet.

Is anybody with the h320 having any problems at all?

The battery is not just a problem on the ipod. Eventually all lithium batteries go to , whether its from a Zen Nomad, an iRiver, ect. You can replace your ipod lithium battery for about $30 if you don't directly go through apple. (Just look up ipod battery on the net.)

All in all, the iPod is not perfect and there are many improvements that can be made (but this can be said of most players),...however it is still an excellent player. I bought mine two months ago, just to try it out and see how I like it and how it compares to my other mp3 player (Cowon iAudio). At first I was really skeptical and was a bit turned of by all the hype but after using it I came to realize that it's actually is a good player. It's fast, I can easily search through ~35 Gigs of music, large sets or tracks are a cinch to navigate through, I can use it as a mini PDA, I can attach tracklists and notes to tracks or sets, I can use it pretty much anywhere, my car, my home stereo, the stereo at work...
