whatever you do before you go watch it... DO NOT go to the movie website, as i did, and you will know about three quarters of the movie, and it is very predicatable.
The movie was good, but how could they class it as a horror? I wouldn't even call it disturbing in the slightest, this movie is like Phone Booth on a different level. The cinematography in some places is excellently executed, but just not "dark" enough to warrant what some critics have said is the "best horror movie in ages!!!1!!!oneone!" Event Horizon is a lot worse than this, lol |

i'm sorry i have to disagree, this film is highly disturbing and i love it! its much more psychological than i was expecting. i am of the view that this is the best horror this year, easily. in fact i put it up there with kill bill vol 2 for top movie of the year!
i agree, don't go to the website, the trailers do give away a lot. but what they don't give away... woah

The twist at the end was comparable to the Scream 3 "twist"...if you've seen that movie you'll know what i mean!
I didn't find the past murders in the movie disturbing because you can see them on the movie website, and Fiona's cynical teachings on me :disbelief have allowed me to see the world in a darker sense, and so the killers motive (i.e to teach people to be glad of their life) are interesting but not disturbing as you can see where he is coming from. In a world like today, stuff like that SHOULD happen to kick people up the arse to start living properly!
I've seen a lot of , and this just doesn't do it for me :p
For gruesome and "sick" twisted stuff, i recommend that you guys find a movie called Ichi the Killer...If you thought that when that girl had to find the key in the guts was gruesome, then you probably wouldn't be able to keep your food in your stomach whilst watching this!!! |

from what i've heard ichi the killer is a different kind of disturbing. saw is much more psychological in that you can put yourself in every situation in the film. the way jigsaw plays with the minds of the victims is very screwed up, to the point at which if they survive, they are thankful of the lesson and lead their lives differently. its not so much the face-value grusomeness that makes this film as disturbing as it is, and in that sense ichi the killer would probably be more disturbing. but saw is much more in your head, when you put yourself in the situation of the victim it scares you, in a similar way to blair witch. thats why its disturbing... imagine being in the position of the girl with the mask thing on her head, its ing horrible! but i like it :toothless
the twist at the end is what makes the film, i'm not saying any more :p |
