it's just stupid that you cannot send a message through the server when the contact is offline.

Of course not!

Why should I accept a file I wouldn't want?
Better yet, for security sake, it's best that feature doesn't exist.
Exspecially in these days of automated virii and script kiddies... :nervous:

i just went to install, and i have the 'windows firewall' on.

It says its from an unknown publisher. SHouldnt microsoft recognize their own products?

Or is it just good old microsoft programing, or lack there of?

or is it because its beta?

I think he means being able to send a message to a contact that is offline. The message gets queued on the server so that when the contact gets online, the message is delivered (kinda like an e-mail would). Something which ICQ and Yahoo have been able to do for years.
