Who is lamer? Microsoft or Apple? (pg. 3)

To XP bashers:

I've used XP since it came out (Fall 2001)
I torture my PC in any way possible, multitasking, 100 different windows open, CPU & GPU intense games, winamp, outlook, SETI crunching in the background

During that time, I've NEVER had a blue screen (unlike 98)
I've NEVER had XP freeze on me or reboot for no reason (unlike 98)

Some say XP is win2k with pretty colors, I agree. If you can't stand the colors, turn them off, there's an option for it.

I'm sure many will agree with me. Stereotypical folk who refuse to touch anything after win98 will not.

i would rather have a macintosh over windows if it wasnt much more expensive in israel.
and i would rather have a linux over a macintosh if it was geared for music/graphic producers as much as the mac compatability/preformance).

windows is a gaming platform that relies on the easiest interface
macintosh is a graphic/music producer platform that relies on skill
linux is a programing platform that relies on nerdiness :p

in which category do you fit?

the only thing i dont like about macs is once u buy one u are for life...u cant later upgrade...u need to sell the whole thing and get a new one...I wish i can go somewhere buy the parts and put it together...and its expensive also..

What bothers me about Apple is they try and do the thinking for you. Far more than Windows does. Apple also tends to try and nickel and dime you to death. Take the Ipod for example, you need to buy the remote separately, the docking station, the USB cord, etc., and it's usually pretty pricey in comparison.

To sum it up, Apple is like a cool looking Acura in which if you look under the hood, there's nothing but a big black box with an Apple logo in the center. Windows is like a good 'ole American 5.0 Mustang you can EASILY mod the crap out of, and pretty much build as you please with readily available parts.

macs are much more expensive everywhere!

windows gets a nod because it has to run under so many different conditions on so many different types of hardware. OSX and its relatives only run on apple.

my main beef, and ive used both - is that when windows breaks, someone with a bit of knowhow and effort can fix the problem themselves. with Apple you pay more from the get go, pay more for software and peripherals and then when it breaks you have to pay Apple to fix it. Good business model, (i guess), but it really chafes my hide|

actually unlike PC parts that become outdated easily and need upgrading, Mac parts dont. someone running a G3 right now would still have no problem doing whatever he needs to do on the mac. but someone running a pentuim 2 right now on a pc, would be SOL

People seem to have missed the point :clown:

This was a thread about dogma vs evolution... Mac's mouse was merely a proxy to demonstrate it.

Steve Jobs sees a mouse and windows at Xerox as said "Damn that's good, let's adopt it"

Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer saw WINDOWS and a mouse on an Apple they said "Damn that's good, let's adopt it"

For Steve Jobs (and every Mac user alive) to see a 2 button scroll wheel mouse on every WINDOWS computer and not say "Damn that's good, let's adopt it"is just plain silly.

You might want to consider that world of computers doesn't revolve around your specific needs. The primary goal of mac is to keep things simple. The most difficult thing for a new user to learn is how to operate the mouse. Since a large segment of the population don't enjoy the complexity and problems of computers it's logical to conclued that mac not windows has their priorities right. Btw, if you don't like mac use windoze instead and quit your bitching.

Mac's are more expensive yes, but if you look at the prices they are dropping, as they are picking back up in popularity they can afford to lower the prices and stay in business. Simple business rules, but kind of a no win situation. Fewer buyers - higher prices. More buyers - lower prices. So where do you get to the point where you can lower the prices with few buyers and stay afloat with the services they offer that need to be funded and the employees, etc etc.?

my ipod came with a remote. I guess that was a fluke. It also came with the dock and the firewire cord. Whoa it came with earphones too!

I love my 17 inch PB, and windows has yet to come out with anything close to touching what this "laptop" can do in sense of performance, design and ease of use. and it's over a ytear old now.

It's true that macs with their laptops have always been ahead of their game in comparision to Pc's.
