| I've been using Mac since I was a little kid. Now I have both a PC and a Mac. From my experiences Mac OS is much more stable (Mac OS X). It's also very simple and elegant. My Mac have never disappointed, and that's why I nearly never use my PC. I use it sometimes for gaming but I simply don't trust it when it comes to other stuff such as writing and web-design. I've only had it for 5 months or something like that and it has crashed too often compared to my Mac. That's just how I feel about this.. maybe it's personal taste. |

Flec,
the simplest answer is: mac's hardware architecture allows for a 30%+ increase in producitivity time when compared with a PC of the same calibre. they are easy to fix resulting in much less downtime when problems do arise. macs actually cost 50% less on the dollar vs. PCs for maintenance.
aside from video editing, one of the biggest reasons why PCs aren't used is because of the fonts. the fonts on a PC are nowhere close to the design of the original font. take for example the avant garde font created in the 60s by herb lubalin, it has been appropriated again and again for the PC, not legally i might add, but tweaked enough so there aren't any problems, but the result is a horrible looking font. Same goes for any stock font: Arial, Helvetica, Times, etc.
it wasn't until the advent of the truetype font that things were looking a little better for the PC.
the fonts on an apple machine are as close to the originals as you can get by today's standards, simply because at the beginning of the "computer race", Steve Jobs took the time to legally address all the font issues.
oh and another thing, the colour calibration that PCs afford are also pretty sketchy when compared to true colours (pantone colours) that macs utilize.
it isn't just the hardware that makes the mac superior for graphic production, but the software application as well. hope that helps.
Best quote in this situation: "In a world without walls or fences, what use to we have for Windows or Gates?" :haha: |

One basic thing is that processing on mac uses less processing steps
Maybe like 5 or so
Pc cpu's are around 10~20 processing steps
So think of pc's as being less efficient and lots of loss in processing power.
Colour palette on macs are truer ( which can be corrected on macs ).
Screens on a mac tend to have a higher horizontal refresh rate compared to a pc.
It's not exactly a question of one being able to do a task that the other cannot ... as both platforms can pretty much achieve the same tasks apart from some platform specific software. |

the software. mac provides free video editing software for the consumer iMovie and their professional software FinalCut and DVD Studio pro is simply the best. screen resolution is a little higher 92 which is nice when working with images. Look i wish more software was availble on the mac and would like lower prices. everything in life has trade offs. |
