Hey all, this is probably the first mix that i've posted on here. I dunno how many of you know that i mix but yeah... i do (sorry if i say anything retarded i'm a little stoned you see lol) I've been pc mixing for about a year, 1/2 n 1/2 mixing for about 3 or 4 months (One side turntable other side pc) and i've been TT mixing for about 2 weeks :p
Here's the set i made sorry if some of the tracks don't really go together, since i can't learn how to spend cash i work with limited vinyls.

Tracklist :
Girl Nobody - Cages (Lemon 8 Mix)
Lostep - Burma (Sasha Edit)
Whirlpool - Under The Sun (Markus Schulz mix)
PQM - You Are Sleeping (Luke Chable Mix)
Paul Van Dyk - Wir Sind Wir (Pvd Mix)
Above & Beyond - No one on earth (G&D Mix)
Armin Van Buuren - Blue Fear
Ferry Corsten - Indigo
Nick Lunn & Y.O.M.C Pres. Techno-Punk - Energize (PVD Edit)
DJ Ton TB - Dream Machine
I'd love to hear everyones feedback if they have the time, i know that i screwed up a couple of times by putting the track in too late, some gallops, and early intros. I'm still not where i'd like to be but ... i'm still learnin. thanks all :)
you can skip like the first minute, i started recording a bit too early. |

first mix was good... nice transition. good timing
2nd mix.. was slightly offbeat... the 2 tracks didn't really fit harmonically but u were working with limited records so its ok! ;)
3rd mix was also offbeat...
4th mix soudned a bit offbeat at first... but u corrected it... i liked how u timed it though. fit pretty nicely together.
5th mix soudned pretty good... it was kinda short... but it worked well.
6th mix was offbeat for most of the mix.. butonly slightly. timing seemed kinda weird there... energy was sorta lost
7th mix wasn't bad.. but there's something i didn't like about it.
8th mix sounded pretty good. lost a bit of energy... but still a good mix. gain might have been a lil high for the incoming track.
last mix was offbeat a lil bit here and there. the volume... and timing seemed kinda weird... sounded like a rushed mix. could've been smoother
overall: i think you did a good job for someone who's only been mixing on tt's for 2 weeks. i'm sure ur prior experience helped a lot too. beatmatching was mostly on. your errors seemed to be some timing issues here and there.. phrases were not matched once or twice maybe. also, check ur levels when ur mixing too. the volumes going from track to track were not even all the time... or u faded out too quickly... vice versa. i gotta say one more time tho... good job for ur first tt mix. if all possible, check out my latest progressive trance mix... here's the link.

Thanks alot for the review. I agree that some things i could of done alot better, and yeah, my previous mixing experiences did help out alot, i got to understand well... i understood alot about mixing, what i basically had to do, pitching, timing, beatmatching all those things but it still didn't know how to do em well since when someone is using a program to mix it's easy to beatmatch and know at exactly what bpm ur tracks are going. when i got my first turntable i got the general idea of what i had to do with 2 turntables. i think i started off the right way, now i just have to practice more and more until my pitching and matching is where i want it to be. i think my ear isn't trained well yet, i still need a couple of months but soon enough.
I've always downloaded ur sets, always liked them too, just never posted a review lol.
When i'm doin paying for my turntable imma start thinking about buying cdj's any suggestions ? i don't want something that's gonna cost me an arm or leg but i also don't want something that's gonna fall apart on me. once again thanks for the review :)
we need to meet up and blaze a few ;) |
