Which dumbass putted Lieb against Marco V.???
He/She must be extremely dumb or just ignorant!
Marco V. doesn't even come near somebody like Lieb!!!

Geez....that's just a comparisation beyond stupidness...
:eyes:

hmmm that would be me :(
what you said is very unfair, please say that again HERE in the thread to the persons who voted Marco instead of Oliver.
When I made the poll I was thinking of the two biggest techtrance producers so I immediately thought of Marco and Oliver. I couldn’t think of any other producer as popular as Marco so I decided to compare it with genius Oliver. Oliver is so much better producer and he has been so much more time in the scene so it would be interesting to compare both of them. Unfortunately as you can see in the poll, popularity is winning against quality and I’m sure it will happen the same if you compare Marco with any other techtrance producer.

no other producer that i know of has like 400 releases...been at the top of the game for over a decade and keeps coming with more...not only that, but he produces in so many different genres...that's why he's #1

Oliver's remix of Lost Vagueness is easily in my top 5 tracks of all-time. Great producer, not the best though. I don't think there is a best producer.

I wasn't a big fan of Oliver Lieb earlier, but during the last few months he's become my all time favourite producer. As already mentioned, he's a musical genius, having made hundreds of top quality tunes and remixes over the years. As my custom status suggests L.S.G. is my favourite alias of his, but I don't think there's a single alias I don't like. Hard to pick the best out of all the tunes he's made, but here are some:

L.S.G. - Netherworld
Spicelab - We Got Spice (Spicelab Remix)
L.S.G. - Risin' (Original Mix)
L.S.G. - Saviour
Paragliders - Lithium 1
Radical Impression - Samurai

I should have take a look at the poll-thread you made first, sorry... I always get carried away when I see such thing happen... A lot of people are not familiar with the work of Lieb and they know Marco V. so they instantly vote for him. I know, that when they find out what Lieb contributed to trance/techtrance that they would regret their vote for Marco immediatly. And I will contribute my answer in the thread with the poll.... That seems indeed the fairest thing to do.

Prolly because Oliver Lieb didn't make it - it was made by Mischa Van Der Heiden in cooperation with Benno de Goeij and Piet Bervoets (aka Rank 1). Lieb did a remix of it though.

Felt like pointing out some of Oliver's releases that are vastly underrated here:

Mindspace - Mindcontrol (Methane, 2000) <- one of the best trancers he ever produced

Oliver Lieb & Dr. Atmo - Music To Films (Fax +49-69/450464, 1994) <- ambient soundtrack to the film Koyanisqaatsi, released on Pete Namlook's legendary ambient label Fax

Spicelab - A Day On Our Planet (Harthouse, 1994) <- never got the attention it deserved, thanks to Harthouse not bothering to promote it, which ultimately led to Oliver splitting from Harthouse for good. A real shame, tracks like "Falling" and "We Got Spice" really bring out how diverse Oliver's talent is.

Force Legato - System (ZYX, 1989) <- perhaps the first release to put Oliver on the map, produced with techno legend Torsten Fenslau. It really signalled a change in EDM as it was back then.

Mirage - Airborn (Eye Q, 1993) <- wish he made more tracks under this alias. Melodic bliss, and a brilliant example of what it was that made the Eye Q/Harthouse sound so popular.

I totally agree, haven't heard Music To Films, but the rest of the stuff you listed there is definetely high quality stuff way ahead of its time. Another tune by Lieb that doesn't get the attention it deserves is Java - Cosmos, a beautiful chilled trancer. His Ambush stuff is also great, still searching for the album though!

L-Vee does not deserve it, he has completely sold out in the same mold tunes with no innovation. Oliver Lieb at least, did not sellout nor did he keep the same sound.

ahem

Kamaya Painters - Far From Over (Oliver Lieb remix)

I resent the people who say that the original trumps this one. I also dont like it when people trash it cuz its quasi-commercial, it is easily one of my favorite songs of all time

edit - i also want to mention Smoked - Metropolis...this tune is outstanding

I gotta put Sasha and BT in their for their genious. You may not like their style, but their talent and understanding of music is mindboggling.
