| Justified war strike or an egregious war crime ... only your partisanship will determine which it is in the absence of any contextualisation whatsoever. |

Heres a nice one:
If indeed they were civilian targets do you believe this adminstration would release this footage?
If not, can you give me a similar case where a US serviceman, and even better an OFFICER of the US military, released such material without clearance? |

In the origins of my thread I had contemplated both of your ideas.
Is this an attack on civilians which goes against the Geneva Convention or is this an attack on an armed group?
If anyone can come across the whole video (preceding the airstrike) then that would be info worth having. |

Ive seen this before.
There is no way to prove who was struck.
Armed soldiers running out of a building or civilians?
Its obvious by the website's address/name that we can see they came to a quick conclusion of who was hit....even though they used the phrase | quote: | | of what appear to be civilians |

There's also another link which is posted on the antiwar.com site. Which probably means they saw it on the independent.co.uk site:
Take them out, dude: pilots toast hit on Iraqi 'civilians'
But I figure I'd find the source mentioned: Channel 4 News:
US cockpit pictures | quote: | | And Iraqis in Fallujah tell us that crowd on Julan Steet that day were innocent civilians. They too are searching for their proof. |
What made me ponder is that if a crowd of people would be aggressive then why go out into the middle of the street? Why not duck and cover like any military unit would do. Self-preservation would dictate you to find a suitable position to fire from. |

I didn't watch nor care to. Collateral damage occurs when residents allow terrorists to launch attacks from their front yards. I mean, it would stand to reason that if some unknown hoodlum is in the street in front of my house lobbing mortar rounds towards the Green Zone, that I would kindly ask him to leave since I know an Apache or massive counterfire is soon to occur in retaliation for his stupid act. The correct answer is for the residents to tell the terrorists to stay the hell out of their neighborhood to avoid counterfire, and that is not happening altogther too quickly.
Hey, Habib! This is buttass simple. If you let insurgents launch attacks out in front of your home, you, your wife, and kids can get killed when the allies massively retaliate....
:p

| I have to agree with the general consensus here - without further substance and footage on this video, I cannot feel compelled to incriminate anyone. In cases like this, I have to give the benefit of the doubt to our military personnel and the decisions from their commanders. Unless there's concrete evidence of wrongdoing, like say Abu Ghraib, then I cannot take my tin foil hat off and jump in the conspiracy pool just yet. |
