Sony 7506s have arrived......

FINALLY
After waiting several weeks thanks to parcelfarce UK losing the package, and having to pay 26 uk pounds import duty/fees :whip: , they have arrived......

here are my brief first impressions:
:eyes:
Basically- everything that is good with the mdrv700s, with none of the bad stuff.
With the addition of:
Phenomenally clear and precise sound
Service diagram/manual included (with part numbers)
Better build
Better joints
the best carry bag ive ever seen with a pair of 'phones'

I thought the shaped cups would be awkward for the way i use 'phones ( i have the headband behind my neck never over my head), but they are fine- large enough to work either way, and the nicely angled cups are extremely well thought out.

me, even the packaging puts some jewellers to shame.

bad points: i can see the material on the earpads wont last a vast amount of time ( but i know about the beyerdynamic mod).
That is all i can find for now.

These things piss all over sennheiser HD 25s for sound quality, pioneers for comfort, and anything else on the market that ive owned( far fartoo many to list) for anything else i can think of.

I havent played out with them yet- but ill bump this after a weekend of work and give my impressions of them then- i dont think i will be disappointed.
They seem a tad bass light compared to my other phones i use for work (currently sennheiser HD25, and sony mdrv700 and until recently pioneer hdj1000), but that isnt a problem as such, just a difference. I will, of course, post up how they cope in a 120dB plus club after the weekend.

I cant see me EVER buying another model/brand of headphones now- they are that good - awesome is not the word
:)

Welcome to the club :D

Indeed, the only downside are the pads - I've had my 7506s for a year and a half now at least, the pads are flaked and worn, and the fake leather has let go from the inside of the cup, exposing the foam... the little inside piece of fabric that goes over the driver is nice and dirty and is coming loose I noticed...

And they're still as comfortable as the day I bought them, despite this. It's almost like they just broke themselves in around my ears. The sound is still as clear, they are as structurally sound as ever - no loose joints, no cracks - they are ing tanks. And replacement pads are only $9 a pop.

God I love these cans.

Btw, if anyone has a link showing how to replace the pads let me know, because I have no idea.

A quick search on froogle got this:

OH... the pads you got didn't come with replacement instructions?? Strange...

They're top notch, but I've never used them in a high SPL environment so I'm curious to see how Freak says they perform...

Well I've yet to buy replacement pads, even tho mine are worn they're still comfy and seal well.

Been using my technics 1210 For over a year now and even though i never take care of them they still look and feel like the day i bought them... doubt anything wiuld come close to their value. They're sold here for about 70 quids only

UPDATE
Well, i used them thursday, friday and saturday night.....

Best.
Headphones.
Ever.

Seriously- cant fault them.
They felt so comfortable and light (lighter than Hd 25s) and clear.
effortless movement from my ears to around my neck mid-mix.
Sound is phenomenal- they block out plenty of ambient noise (more than Hdj1000s) and i certainly had no problems in my loudest venue.
Cups are fine for using horizontally (headband behind neck as opposed to over head) and using this way makes no difference to the sound (unlike hd 25s which lose a load of bass when you do this)

If i had one minor remark, it would be that they have more midrange than i am used to- but this is not a problem as such, its just a slight difference. Not like its hurt my ears from excessive mid or anything. In fact, my ears seem a tad less stressed than normal after work- certainly less tired than Hd 25s which have a tendancy to do that.

As i originally stated, i cannot see me using another set now- unless someone makes something seriously good and different.

Top stuff :)

Hmmm... I never loose any bass and I wear my HD25s 'horizontally' all the time. You must have a fat head or something? :haha:  j/k

Actually it's interesting how the head shape and size of the DJs ears will also affect how the phones work.

May have to try these out at some point, but at the moment still happy with the Senns.

Cheers

:p cheeky cnut :p
no i have a thin head, so the senns arent as secure on the head when used horizontally. They are a bit looser on the ears- hence less bass response.

Nem, you get my disc? Sent you one a few weeks back.

Cheers Freak, just got a brand new pair of these myself and after wearing them in I must say these headphones have the best sound I've ever heard.

Another happy owner :D

So you guys are saying 7506s isolate noise and sound better then HDJ-1000s? My 1000s are falling appart and I try to keep them together with glue basically, but the joints are cracked and they might go anytime. I have doubts about 7506s though and I don't have an opportunity to try them out before I buy them.
Any more comparisons?
