| If i was spending that much id want to know what brand the memory and hdds were .. and id also want a seperate and decent sound card and not the integrated crap you get with a mobo .. the general lack of info on the components aint helping that it seems to be pitched as a high end system .. i mean i wouldnt want a philips tft monitor ... especially if the response time is 20ms or over .. |

or you could get 2xcdj1000 and a djm300...
you could get a good enough machine for about 500 quid i reckon and overclock it a tad. |

Thanks to Adam for some advice there.
For Ste - I'm thinking of spending about £600 on just a base unit, i dont really care about the monitor tbh and softwares. I'm not aware of many good places for branded systems tho, are there any reliable sites that offer good deals - pref on AMD stuff, I prefer it to intel |

| why not just but a good branded pc. Dell/HP Compaq are more than adaquate. Then just bung in a firewire card/extras if you need? Plus custome cases look horrible. Give me a black compaq any day! :) |

Mmm... A64 is tricky on that budget:
Corsair 1GB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS2.5 Kit (2x512MB) (VS1GBKIT400) (MY-041-CS)
NEC ND3500 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-012-NE)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160GB ATA-100 2MB Cache - OEM (HD-007-SE)
Vantec Nexus NXP-201 Fan Controller - Black (OA-007-VT)
HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon 9550 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-009-HT)
Antec SLK3700BQE Black Quiet Midi Tower Case - 350W SmartPower PSU (CA-011-AN)
Creative Sound Blaster Live! LS 5.1 Digital - OEM (SC-004-CL)
AMD Athlon 64 2800 Newcastle 130nm (Socket 754) - Retail (CP-084-AM)
Asus K8N (Socket 754) Motherboard (MB-080-AS)
I could do a much better Socket A machine for that price |
