| Hal the radio broadcaster from Winnipeg proved that this voting process was purely about PR and not necessarily about who our real great Canadians are. He placed higher on the list than Sir Wilfred Laurier. If only 140,00 thousand people voted it is clearly not a true representation of what Canada thinks. TAs could have easily placed anyone in the top 100 if we had united. |

I remember the contest came out around the time that CBC wanted to censor Don Cherry. People voted for Cherry as a protest vote for free speach on the CBC to teach them a lesson. Looks like it worked! LOL
Most of those votes are protest votes. Nobody seriously thinks he's the greatest canadian but i'm pretty sure the CBC execs are embarassed. |

Here is an interesting thing. People berate cherry yet many people honestly think that a guy who became famous for playing a kid's game is more important than say a nobel prize winner or someone who found an important treatment for diabetes for example.
