what is the best "american football" video game you have ever played?
i'm bored, so i created this thread. apolgies for putting the words 'american football' in parentheses, but i don't want to confuse the multi-cultural readers, knowing that in their parts of the lands, football = soccer.
i have played many football games. every football game from the simple ones on atari to tecmo bowl on nintendo to madden on genesis and now to "blitz" to the whored out EA sports game.
i love to play video game football now and then, but i feel the best was on the sega genesis console and the game was 'nfl football 94 : featuring joe montana" .. i don't know how many "old schoolers" out there right now, but what i think this game brought that other games don't is the use of formations.
this game has better route formations for the wide receivers, i can put my quarterback in the shotgun in any type of formation (even a two running back, 3 tight end situation), and this game should specifically say "the game of no defense" .. i play with everyone, and we usually score in the 50 to 60 point range, each. i like the way all the graphics are now and everything, but they aren't as flexible as this game was, and the routes the receivers run are sometimes to easy. |

I never thought someone would mention this. It is by far the best football game ever. Tecmo Bowl for the NES is second. |

I actually like Madden 2005 :D Gave NFL Street a try a while back, and it toally stunk. My favorite though is probably NFL Blitz.

ESPN NFL 2K5 for Xbox.
I used to be a Madden freak but this game is better. It makes Madden 05 seem like a cartoon. And it's not just graphics. The game is more realistic. |
