which is fine..youre entitled to that belief...
i was directing my comments more @ kyratracid....who made some very ignorant, uniformed comments on islam.

I mean, if a terrorist kills himself during the period of Ramadhan he goes stright to heaven isn't that what Islam teaches you ?

NO, this is 100% false. Where are you getting this from?

quote:

I've had plenty of muslim friends (quite a few Persians), removed from some of the bull that goes on in Iran, and i know they won't shed any tears if some of these clerics who proclaim to be spreading the word of god are exterminated.

I wouldn't mind either if they were gotten rid of, BUT not by some American coup or outside interference. Let the people of Iran take care of it. Last time someone tried to "help" Iran, the CIA ended up overthrowing the democratically elected PM Mossadegh, and re-installing the Shah as a dictator.

quote:

It's not about evil Islam against the world, it's about the dumb muslims who swallow everything they are being fed by the mullahs and the relgious dogma used by the unscrupulous agents of evil who infect the impressionable mind of their youth with this bull notion, that it's not only ok to die for your God. But it is what your god wants and expects from you.

You are talking about maybe a thousand or so extremists out of a billion Muslims worldwide. Most mullahs are honorable religious leaders, and I would like to see you acknowledge this point.

quote:

Islam hasn't got a bad rap because the world hates it. It's got a bad rap because its the only religon which openly advocates the assembly of a vast army of ignorant fundamentalists, whose only purpose it is to destroy those who do not bow down to the will of Allah.

Once again, this is 100% false. Where are you getting such ideas from?

quote:

With no seperation between church and state, you have millions of people who have been programmed to hate and distrust not only Americans, British, Isreali, Jews, Christans, Hindus, Buddhists ... but anyone who they basically see as a threat to Islam.

I don't think so. Most Iranians hate the American government, but they have nothing against their people, and certainly nothing against Christians, Hindus, Buddhists. I will agree that a lot do look down upon Jewish people and Isrealis, which is extremely disappointing and unwarranted.

So, while i'm hoping that Bush loses the upcomming election, i am glad that he did go into Iraq and get rid of Saddam (WMD or not) because the guy was always going to be a threat (and lets face it, all he did was torture, kill and take from his people).

Should they have invaded Iraq. No. They should have finished Saddam off in the Gulf War by sending in special forces when the republican guard was in disarray.

They didn't finish Saddam off in the gulf war because they didn't have an exit strategy, almost like now.

And I still don't understand all this about Saddam always being a threat. He was only a threat to his own people, not the rest of the world. Yes, that's still a bad thing.. but there's a lot more people in the world that are a "global threat" than Saddam ever was.

Different religions argue over which one has the best imaginary friend.

If they are so honourable, why is it that most of them don't bat an eye or express any sort of anger or resentment when another fanatic blows up a bus full of innocents or saws the head off a construction worker?

I'm pretty sure that most Christians and Jews and Hindus and Buddhists etc. here would be outraged if some nut was going around killing people in the name of their God. I mean, we would make it our business to hunt them down and put them behind bars or in the graveyard, where they belong, instead of shrugging our shoulders or reluctantly muttering some superficial condolences followed by something like "they had it coming, though".

I hope everybody is familiar with Edmund Burke's famous quote from the 18th century:

"All that is necessarily for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Hitler and the Nazis may have committed most of the evil during WWII, but they could not have done so without the acquiescence of most of Germany, and to this day most Germans will still admit that their ancestors were partially, indirectly guilty too. None of this guilt for Islam, though... let the people of Iran handle it!? Hah, if the people of Iran have any problem with what's brewing down there, they sure as hell aren't conspiring to put a stop to it - they are willing pawns in the whole movement.
