University Careers Recruitment Fair 21/10/04

What a waste of time :whip:

A load of companies come round to the University to look for people who are graduating in 2005, to see what jobs they can give us.

Of course, as we discovered to our dismay, they are looking for Engineers, IT people, Food Scientists and Accountants. Not one company wanted people with straight Physics. I had more luck at the Lidl stand enquiring about management, given my past job with Marks & Spencer.

On the plus side though, I did manage to net the following free food products -

- 1x Orange juice carton
- 1x Apple
- 1x Orange
- 3x Sherbet Lollys
- 4x Cadburys Roses
- 3x Lidl sticky chewy sweets
- 2x Cadburys Celebrations
- 1x strange lightbulb shaped thing with mints inside
- 1x Caramel Biscuit
- 1x Crispy Chips Crisps
- 2x strange coolmint blackcurrents
- 1x packet of Happy Bears Party jelly babies
- 11x chupa chups lollys
- 6x free pens

Not a bad haul, you should learn from the master :D

'Rape' isn't exactly the verb I would've used, but congratulations on your haul.

LOL that hilarious -- I think you found the sole purpose for career fair. I used to do the same thing when I was in college, but not to that extent. Glad to see you working it.

Nothing says "starving student" like a fresh load of stolen food products ;)

"To plunder or pillage"

Meh - I think he effectively plundered the trade show for all its lollipops :toothless

Nice haul! :wtf:

I know what it means, however given the negative connotation in society I probably would've chosen something different, but that's just me.

quit complaining. i went to my university's career fair on 21OCT2004 - same as you, and talked to about 20 out of 80 recuriters in 2 hours, passed out some 15 resumes, and already scheduled 2 interviews (within 1 day). More interviews to follow in the next few weeks.

oh and since i focused on actually talking to recruiters and getting to know them and passing out resumes, i only got 2 freebies... i passed on several pens, shirts, keychains, pocket flashlights and other trinkets, but the ones i did get were put in my hand - Microsoft plastic magnetic sticks with ball bearings, and a ConocoPhillips plastic clock. I wish they had some juice though, cos i had to leave 4 times to go get a drink from the water fountain.

We had something like that a couple of years back at school, it was for people to decide what classes they wanted to take.

I think everyone in the year was writing with their free pens for the next few months :p

On a side note:

The collection of things you've placed on the table looks like it was used to lure children to their career fair. I certainly wouldn't take an engineering, accounting, or IT firm seriously if they offered me a 'lolly.'
