Off Topic but,

I saw Vanilla Sky at the theater on it's opening weekend...

I think the reason that it get's no love from so many is the fact that it's a carbon copy of the original w/ a bigger budget / english.

I believe that even if Crowe had taken more liberties, people who see foreign films be remade and "americanized" are always despised.

It's still a really damn good movie to me.

Vanilla Sky was ace, I think smaller budget movies are far better because they try to focus more on the story line, rather than big budget explosions.

* Lost in Translation
* Cabin fever (what the was that ending about??)
* Envy (i fell asleep during the movie)

i'm assuming you didn't read the book that this movie was based on (correct me if i'm wrong), but it's a great book. i can see how most people would think the movie sucked if they had never read the book. Bret Easton Ellis is by far, one of my favorite authors. i hated American Psycho (the movie) when i saw it when it first came out in theaters, but then a few years later i read the book, which is pretty great.

anyway, i don't know if Ellis is your style, but i highly recommend the book. :)

typically movies adapted from a book turn out to be a bomb in comparison to the book.

as for the movies i've wasted precious moments of my life on...

Grind (just like the thread starter stated - it was like a car wreck!)
Cabin Fever (seriously the tiest movie ever)
Last Orders (was okay, but too long and boring)

yeah, agreed. i was pretty baked when i saw it so i don't remember much of it. i just remember a certain scene where Ben Stiller is in the kitchen, something about a big bag of powdered sugar, which is actually coke, or maybe it's the other way around... i don't know. or maybe it's an entirely different movie w/ Ben Stiller. damnit.
