Hrmmmm the Holocaust?
Numerous crisis in Africa (Sudan, Rwanda, etc)?
Genocide in Eastern Europe?
Confilicts in the Middle East?
Russia/Chechnya?
I think that religion had a point, we have evolved beyond that point and now it only serves as a divisive issue used by many as a justification for violence. |
I don't think religion can be blamed for misinterpretation. |

You're entitled to your own opinion, but surely religion contributes more to the world than AIDS. At least religion gives people a set of guidelines and a conscience. I'm sure that religion has caused many to reconsider crimes and detestable acts. AIDS just kills. |
saying that conscience is derived from religion is granting religion much more credit then it deserved.
if that was the case, then i cant find a reason why you would be allowed into heaven. i mean, if without religion you would make all the wrong decisions, then you havent earned your right to enter heaven, you were just doing it all in order to enter heaven, in other words, you were being egoistic, bringing this whole issue closer to sin then to a good deed.
and about the AIDS comment:
i havent heard of many crimes commited by people diagnosed HIV positive :o |

You use the Italian flag... need I say "crusades"? Would I need to re-write my post reminding you that the pope is in Rome and highlight all the times I wrote "Catholic church" in it? ;) |
The Crusades were defensive. The Muslims invaded Europe, and we formed a coalition of the willing to strike at the heart of the enemy.

LACK of religion has killed even more. Consider the atheist USSR and Mao's China. |

I just mentioned it because ShadowWolf is a bit paranoid when it comes to Islamism and Arabs - you can't blame the philosophy for the errors of the fan club ;)
And wasn't the Vatican created by Mussolini, by the way? |
Not quite. It was a series of treaties between the Church and the Republic of Italy.

God is like Father Christmas or the Easter Bunny
Good Deeds will always be good. A Good man will do Good things.
The Bible was a Best Seller in its time. It apparently has a few fans even in this modern world. Personally I liked reading the novelisation of Star Wars a whole lot more interesting. It has better character development.
People who are easily brainwashed do not have a large intellect capacity. An open mind takes more mental energy than a closed mind. If a phenomenon can not be explained in science then it must be a miracle; or maybe your mental capacity is so small that you are what is known as an 'idiot'?
I have been brainwashed to beleive in nothing. I exist therefore I am. 1001010111011001010100111011010101011100010011011100110101011101100101110010010100011

It may be easy to follow, but it is smart to lead.
Good things come to those who know a good deed is coming to them. A good deed is no longer good to a person who can do better. |

That's a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy, as there is no evidence that a religious USSR would have been any less brutal. |
