That's a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy, as there is no evidence that a religious USSR would have been any less brutal. |
1) You sounds almost as rediculous as Don Rumsfeld.
2) Czarist / Orthodox Russia, and the modern Russian Federation are both FAR less brutal than the USSR.
edit: and Taiwan & Hong Kong were less brutal than Mao's China. |

Irrelevant and once again fallacious.

You're confusing correlation with causality. I could just as easily point out that murder rates are lower in the largely secular nations of the EU, but it doesn't mean anything because there's no demonstrable causal link between religious belief and killing. |

There IS a causal link: religions generally teach peace and give people a moral compass. |

Religions also teach poor reasoning and give people a false sense of absolute moral authority. However, bad people will do bad things regardless of their religion or the lack thereof, they'll just justify it differently. |

A true Christian would not murder, or is at least less likely, to murder hundreds of people. |

Exactly. :)

How do you come to this conclusion? Christianity teaches one not to kill, and so does reason. There is no evidence other than a priori assumption that sane Christians are more likely to abstain from murder than sane non-Christians. |
