RIP John Peel

i don't know how many of you guys will know who he is, but he is a total legend in the UK for being a massive connisseur of all music, including a lot of genres that people wouldn't expect someone like john to be interested in, for example techno, trance, hardcore and gabba. he was famous for playing gigs with a very eclectic feel, playing a lot of large clubs in ibiza, as well as many other places world wide. he was a massive promotion for hundreds of up and coming acts. today, he died aged 65 of a heart attack:

BBC Director of Radio & Music Jenny Abramsky added:
"John Peel was a unique broadcaster whose influence on Radio 1 could be felt from its very first days. He nurtured musicians and listeners alike introducing them to new sounds."
"His open minded approach to music was mirrored by his equally generous approach to his audience when he went to Radio 4 to present Home Truths."
"He had a remarkable rapport with all his listeners. Everyone at BBC Radio is devasted by the news. John is simply irreplaceable. Our hearts go out to Sheila and his children." |

I've not posted on TA in a long time but when I found out about Peel's death I felt compelled to.
If ever there was a man who listened to music always without prejudice, it was him.
This is the tragic loss of man who kept every single genre of music alive.

Definitely. No other 65 year old man could ever be as 'cool' as Peely. He was down with the kids :) |

| The man stood up for what he believed in and never discriminated as many had on sounds, he'll really be missed, esp on the voiceovers for tv adverts where he sounds better than most ppl too. :( |
