A Message from Markus Schulz (pg. 20)

I think I speak for all the mods when I say that we try to keep the forums as "clean" as possible. it's difficult sometimes for us to keep tabs on each and every thread.

Markus, you've brought up some good points. We all KNOW the manner in which we should conduct ourselves on here, however, we're only human and cannot be expected to uphold that code without fail. It's just not possible.

You speak of passion. All the users on TA are passionate about the music we listen to which is exactly why people respond in such an extreme manner, both positively and negatively. You cannot expect everybody to enjoy a track or show being discussed, therefore there will be negative comments mixed in with the positive.

Try not to take negative comments and critiscism personally when reading them for aparticular track or show. They are solely meant for the track/show, not you as a person. You say music is an art, then it should be treated as such: in a non-personal manner when being criticised.

This is simply how the music world functions and has always functioned.

Kudos for posting Markus. It's appreciated.

years ago...TTA was a very active member in the tracklist forum and he used to post a tracklist for every set requested and he used to call him self the tracklist king and that is why he was made a mod to the tracklist forum..big mistake if you ask me but u will learn to live with
him.

Neither has the thread resulted in a flame war nor has it been hijacked. People are simply stating their opinions. chill :stongue:

Wow. I certainly don't have the time nor the interest to read through all of this thread, but thank you for making my day.

Long live the First Amendment.

Everytime a valid discussion gets going, you always have the same few, they know who they are, crying foul. I don't understand why one of them is crying foul, when he could not stop attacking others.

Case and point, Markus is man enough to point out that he knows he has critics and fans. Most other deejays would just hide and say nothing. I'm not dissing the man himself, I'm just dissing what I feel to going wrong with the scene. It is my opinion and really I'm only speaking for myself. Now the people who want to attack my mod status, feel free, when did the TA rules state that I had to stop speaking my opinions if certain fools got upset. Just because I don't hold a mainstream view does not mean I'm wrong, nor does it mean I'm right but the same thing goes for you. That's why I've been on TA so long because you have the ability to discuss issues with people who don't think the same thing. At the end of the day, we are all posting here because are into EDM and we feel strongly enough about certain things to post about it. I think people have lost that point and some have put deejays on such a lofty perch, that they are Gods in their minds and anything that anyone says bad about that person, it is wrong and we should instantly stone them to death. I don't subscribe to the DJ God theory, deejays are just musicians who get paid a rediculous amount of money to play in front of people in clubs and raves and we would all love that job.

So at the end of the day, the people who don't have the normal opinion like the rest of the mainstream care about the ing scene or we would not be posting here and doing other things. So chillout and relax, Linx himself stated, the thread did not cross the line and remember, it's about the ing music.

. Lately the boards have really taken a turn for the worst. I am not sure if it is just from a noisy few members or what, but it really has
made the board feel unfriendly and uncomfortable to read at times. I certainly don’t think censorship of any kind is acceptable, however I think its time for the moderators of the forums to get things under control here. This message board is not just about music; it is a community of passionate people who have music as a common bond. We should all respect each other. When coming across someone who has a different opinion than you, maybe continuing a discussion in a non-offensive manner may reveal that you have a lot more in common than you think.

now i havent been on TA for too long or been much of a poster of late due to such things...and i think you really put alot of thought into that post...but unfortunately i dont think it is something you or anyone else can change...

u say censorship is out of the question..but then you are basically asking for a type of censorship..that is getting ppl construct a more intelligent post rather than just say 'u suck ass!' or vice versa..OMG i DIE..both very irrelevant and mean nothing to me.

we should all respect each other indeed..but on a free board you are gonna have everybody from the 14yr old to the 30+yr old that are always gonna be immature about something..but then to ban or censor them would really open the door to other types of censorship as well...one that the mods or anyone else can and never fully define accurately....

we live in a country of free speech , and unfortunately as stupid and rank , or uncomfortable and unfriendly it may be..they have the free will to do it...

its the same reason why Matt Stone and Trey Parker can get away with bashing every american politician and minority and ..well, basically everything and get away with it. good points but full of swears and vulgarity which really could be better constructed to get the point across...but like a tv, all we can do is turn it off, and forget about it.

i am siding with no one and only stating my point.
the end.

***disclaimer--i am in no way bashing southpark, because i love it and it is the blood in my viens***
torontotrance
yes...the OMG I DIE replies should be banned but there is only one person that does that.

it is all about the music...

what I am concerned about is the political enviroment which schulz is creating on TA now. His statements, imo, seem to he a clever effort to make mods. aware of anti- schulz comments and to encourge the pro- GDJB enviroment which I tried to escape from at party107.

TA belives in free speech, if someone wants to post an anti Markus Schulz comment then they are free to do so as long as the post is constructive and gives reasons.
a post that simpley says 'markus sucks' is not constructive, is not with reason and is worthy of deletion.

The amount of anti tiesto threads that were a trend a few months back got the same consideration by the Mods of this forum, stupid posts would be edited or deleted, those that said why they did not tiesto and gave reasons for it were left.

Dave Dresden has taken his fair share of bashing too as have many many big name DJ's, again, ppl are free to comment why they dont like a DJ as long as they back it up with valid reasons.

Again to say 'dresden sucks cos i dont like him' is not a valid reason and will be edited / deleted.

I would hope that the majority of Mods on this board are as unbiased as the site aims to be and would treat all such posts the same no matter who their favorite dj / producer is

I'm all for freedom of speech- as long as you agree with me.

Personally, I've no opinion in either pro or anti Markus debates, but it's hardly surprising to see him getting a little pissed off that he is constantly being bashed. Fact is, it's subjective- there's a difference between "I don't like his music" and "his music sucks" that many people don't realise.

And it never ceases to amaze me how difficult some people find it just to state a point in text.
