Ecler Nuo-5 First hand review

I received this unit last week and I got to say it's probally the best mixer I EVER owned. It's amazing what you can do with the effect's crossfader since it adds some element to your mixing.
-QUALITY - I say the sound quality is excellent. I need to bring this into a club enviorment and test it out. Maybe swap our DJM-600 and use this for a night :D I would say it is on par with A&H
-the knobs and faders is what I love. the knobs are HUGE :) i have big hands so it helps. The fader on this is amazing! Cutting and basic turntable tricks on this mixer is so smooth.
my gripes:
-the send/receive is really odd with an EFX-500, although it's minor it bugs me. If the up-faders are down the whole way and you hit the FX send it will send the FX at full vol no matter what so everything has to be controlled through the EFX as far as lvl is concerned :(
-sharp edges on this mixer
-H,and L-lines this makes it so CD's can only be pluged in H lines which is channel 2 and 4 and 5. which I find annoying. I miss my denon's matrix output. Then again I see why ecler did this so sound quality would be top notch. It's only my preference
-No VU on each channel. there is a signal LED and a OVER led. if the signal is redlining. which is ok...it works kinda like the A&H 3 LED system.
More later... heres some pics

No need for you to worry, the issue you have w/ the effects return is not a problem at all. The effects return is designed on most mixers to allow effects to be used even while all channel gain levels are down. It's mostly useful for samplers.
Anyways, congrats on your new toy. Im now green with envy and i wanna go over to your place and try out the nuo5 first hand. And since you live in the USA, you are one of the few and proud Ecler owners. :)
I just wish my friend at GC could get me a Ecler Nuo5. :(
BTW, where did you get that stand for your laptop? |

once I master these CDJ-1000s then im heading back to vinyl. I am just having way to much fun with the CDJ's :) I always messed with them in the danceclub but to actaully own them I can actaully do some tricks with them.
-the laptopstand is from griffintechnologies.com I think...its an apple stand...its good if ur laptop has a flat base.. |

Nuo -5 /pefect combination of a dance/electronic music turntablist (me)
Xone 62 - I feel as the upfaders u cant "slam", but I love the 4 EQ band system!! Its such a high quality mixer if your into "mixing"
DJM-600 - BLAH TOO OLD, everyone knows the classic...once u get used to this you get used to them all hehehe.
X1500 - once the bugs are worked out and more plugins are introduced this will start bangin' I had it for about 2-3 months but the EQ range is solid -40db...also if u have a lot of inputs this kicks ass (I have a serato scratch, 2 techs and 2 CDJs) 6 inputs that can be assigned in any of the 4 channels rock! |
