the most important thing is knowing what goes good with what.

about a month ago I got so deep into IDM making that I was making a tune that, even if I do say so myself, was almost up to aphex standards.

there were only two problems...

-I am at making original melodies

-I couldn't finish it off

That's actually: "Start as I mean to go on". But hey, I myself have mistaken dozens of his songs;)

I tried something similar a while ago. It started out well, and then suddenly it sounded exactly like hardcore. :nervous:

Besides, I'll never succeed at making anything good with my very very cheap apps.

Here are the first "Analord 10"-samples (acid techno):

Aphex Twin - Analord 10, a side (30 sec sample)
Aphex Twin - Analord 10, b side (30 sec sample)

(Source)

Aphex Twin - Analord 10, a side (90 sec live sample)

Releasedate: December 2004 - IMO, they're a bit weak... I expected him to come with more than this minimalistic acid techno:(

must admit im liking the a - side. b side is also good, but a side is far more user friendly.

Old Aphex Twin is best. Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is his masterpiece.
It is ambient in the sense that it is ambient techno and not really for dancefloors (similar to Orbital).
The music is raw and underproduced by todays standards, but timeless. It couldn't be made today.
Every synth is filled with emotion.
You can hear the roots of every electronic genre we have.
