That's exactly what I am talking about, and how the hell he gets to be #1 DJ for 3 years straight...nonesense, nonsense, totally nonsense...

easy fella, talking about time signatures and stuff related to music theory might be a bit too deep.. its just a natural reaction for people to say: lets see him spin this! (cuz it'll never happen) :P

heh, seems like talent gets a backseat with djmag :|

Honestly, I used to love Tiesto. In Search of Sunrise, the Magik series, and even his live performances at trance energy, mysteryland, etc were hot. I saw him in 2001 and it was simply banging. However, I stopped caring for the guy in about 2002. I see him in the same lines as Cokenfold... losing track and trying to sell to the masses as opposed to concentrating on being a good and relevant DJ.

Any poll with ATB #13 is WACK! This poll is obviously a popularity contest, which it makes no bones about, but I didn't even know ATB was the 13th most popular DJ.

And people still give a "lifetime achievement" award to Paul Cokenfold and others.

But everybody is going to have their debates on who got screwed, whose too high, etc. because it's an opinion poll and people have different opinions.

I don't think it's about technical proficiency and I think that's kind of hard to understand anyway for the common fan.

For my opinion, I was at least happy to see Markus Schulz at #32. I wish he was higher. Other people laugh at that but his style on a weekly basis really gets me moving. Isn't that what he's supposed to do as a DJ?

Its a neverending discussion but i have to put in my .02. ....As far as Tiesto goes, I can see where you have formed your opinion, however... put yourself in the guy's shoes. Yeah, he's gotten alot more "popular" or "commercial" or whatever you want to dub him as.. but its for a REASON. Like you said.. ISOS, Magik,TE, have led him up to this point. And the reason why he stays popular, and continues to stay that way is BECAUSE he is not only still" concentrating on being a good and relevant dj" , its because he's got talent.. and boy do people love to hate him now that he's gotten "bigger" or w/e. He still brings the Magik every time I see him regardless IMO, but to say he's "losing track" and "not concentrating" bc of his popularity is kinda lame i think. If you were him, and people were taking more interest in your music, would you be like "NOPE! Sorry! Dont want to get more famous or further my career so people will think Im being a "sellout"!!" That sounded kinda weird lol, but I hope you sort of understand the point Im tryin to make. And btw,Im not flaming you or anything, I just think alot of people are just seeing the big picture when it comes to Tiesto. There isn't much to say about the poll except that its useless. Rating all that exceptional talent like that is OVERrated imo.
