A valiant effort, but these people neither want nor have ever wanted to listen to trance.

We're just not as cool as you.

Yeah...something like that.

Will always be my favorite trance CD but I have to agree that Oakey got too much fame and credit over a compilation. However, Oakenfold was the perfect introduction to trance for me.

Same here, who cares if it was all the big tracks, they were big for a reason, it was what trance sounded like in 1998, and those were the most defining tunes.

Completely agreed.

Damn, it seems here in TA one cannot like anything that becomes mainstream because it's a sin. This CD rocked and will continue to rock in the future. It is a classic because it shows us what trance represented back then, what it sounded like and how it was mixed.

This cd is pretty good, he makes me discover the world of trance, I know all the transition by heart ! :D

Rendenvous, Purple, and Words are the only good tracks. The first track and Greece are alright. The rest are decent at best, and boring when compared to real trance.

Who exactly is he antagonizing? The artists who will never read what he typed? What?

Why? Because I am stating my honest opinion? Shall I spell it out for you?

1) Time - A cool track with spacey synths. Thumbs up
2) Greece 2000 - A neat tune, good memorable hook. Approved.
3) Rendenvous - Awesome, I love that ing synth. Not a lot else can be said. Thumbs up
4) Purple - Also awesome, so trippy and spacey. Tunes like this are why I like the 98/99 era. Thumbs up
5) Someone - Not very exciting to me. The hook kind of gets on my nerves, the vocals are kind of cool. I prefer Libra feat. Taylor - Calling Your Name.
6) El Nino - Not very exciting either. Not terrible, but just nothing special about it, besides the fact that a lot of people are nostalgic about it.
7) Cafe Del Mar - Same goes here. Everyone just loves that reverb'ed main line that's been beaten to death, but once again it's really doesn't stand out to me.
8) 1998 - Actually on a second listen it's growing on me, it's simple and to the point with a good rhythm. Approved.
9) Words - Classic. Another of the few gems that made this era of Trance worth listening to. No dumb breakdowns that bring the music to a crawl, or other bull like that. Long, repetitive, driving beat, dark and trippy synths. Big Thumbs Up.
10) Gamemaster - It's the classic anthem, and it gets Nostalgia points at least. But beyond that, it's just another anthem to me.
11) Enervate - Boring.

So, out of 11 tracks, there are 4 I really like, and two that I think are neat. That's a 55% approval rate. The rest I am indifferent to, except for Enervate which bores me to tears - so is it any suprise that I find them boring when compared to the classic trance that I grew up on?

Could I possibly make this any clearer for you? Should I even be wasting my time trying to defend my ing personal opinion?
