A thought about hallucinogens

What if the reason they're forbidden is that they could show you things that go beyond the understanding of the general man... that the ones in charge simply can't understand it, and therefore forbid the substances to prevent others from understanding, out of jealousy?

Hmm. Or something similar to that.

If I think hard enough, the bad man will go away.

And by bad mean, I mean you.

Gotta stop eating these mushrooms. :nervous:

They (the government) just doesn't want people ing with their heads, regardless of whether or not hallucinogens are mind expanding or not.

Think about it, what if people suddenly made a drug that made them more insanely intelligent with little consequence? There's just too many ethical problems with stuff like this. People don't believe it's a fundamental right to be able to alter the chemistry in your body at the moment.

I tried shrooms, and it enlightened me in ways I couldn't imagine being possible. I changed who I was as a person, and I made a lot of changes in my life too; all for the better in my opinion.

All of this was because of a few nights warped out on a hallucinogen.

To be quite honest, that thought has crossed my mind before too, but I think logically, they are just trying to stop people from doing harm. Sometimes when the mind is opened to freely wander, people lose it and hurt themselves, others, or just the flow of things.

However, those who bash hallucinogens, or any drug for that matter, can't say anything and fully understand what they are talking about until they have experienced it themself.

I don't think it would be fair for the government to ban these things for no reason. Except in this case, there is a reason, and I believe it mainly has to do with people being in control, or lack there of, of their minds and actions.

Gah, whenever I have my eyes closed on mushrooms the world is a much more intimidating place.

Took a 1/8of shrooms for holloween *good times* :D

As for the whole, "the government bans hallucinogenics because they make you smarter" arguement is just plain dumb. The gov't bans hallucinogenics because they don't want a bunch of people who are high as a kite tramping around the city doing stupid things like jumping in front of traffic, driving a car, causing mischief, etc.

Then why don't they outlaw alcohol?

Good point...

I suppose with alcohol you still have a sense of reality, whereas with hallucinogens, reality becomes obsolete. You can no longer comprehend if what is going on around you is truly happening, or if you are imagining it.

I think it would be neat if they created a place where you could go and trip out. Somewhere safe.

People will do it whether they are told to or not. If we provided a safe atmosphere, with trip friendly music and pictures, people might be able to really see more than the simplicity of our minds can allow on their own.

1) alcohol does not produce as dramatic effects as hallucinogenics

2) have you ever heard of a "lobby group". Like all the enfranchised alcohol producers are going to like them abolishing alcohol.
