| Here in DC we get a lot fo big names. I think there needs to be more variety. Also, I think djs who spin prog or that spin a lot of prog in there sets are booked way more than djs who spin trance. Hard trance djs rarely ever come here. |

Beyond the big name DJ's Hows the local scene?? Is EDM making an impact on other clubs? |
there is something to do every night of the week that has something to do w/ electronic music. Dallas is a big house and drum & bass town. |

| Well Dave, the threadstarter, already knows about the Chicago scene. My take on it is that Vision and Soundbar get a lot of quality and big name talent and there are a lot of house and break beat DJs here in other venues. I personally, with some exceptions, prefer trance, so it seems like there's something lacking here in those off-weeks at the big venues or when you want to go out but not run up a big tab. |

It pisses me off that the majority of djs i want to see on a big event like NYE are always in the US, because they will get paid megabucks. DJs like Oakey think theyre the best thing going because they'll happily play whenever in the US but hardly ever play in Europe now (not that we really want him back). They forget their roots, and who made them big in the first place. |
i agree |

You know this is something that I have tried to focus on here in Houston. We primarily have one club, one freaking club, that plays dance music. That club primarily relies upon big name DJs coming in to play. When the local DJs play, the turnout is not as big in numbers.
There is absolutely no reason that other clubs shouldn't have talented local DJs who can rock the house.
But, its on a big decline in Houston. Its all rap and hip-hop. Its everywhere. I used to play in front of 800 people each Friday night downtown, but now that place is worthless, along with everything else downtown for that bit.
People need to get off these ghetto fools and try something else. A dance club, isnt a dance club without dance music. Not rap music. |

In Germany many dance clubs have shut and R & B is extremely popular.
The hard dance scene has particulary been hit hard.
Is there still a major problem with idiot MCs on the microphone in the US? I mean there are many ways to ruin good music or a good night out, but inclusion of this guarentees it. |

Whats your opinion? Is it thriving? In decline? In renewal? Run to much by big business?
Do you think good dance music has taken priority over pop-cheese?
Do you think it provides professional and up-and-coming DJ's the venue to showcase their talents?
Is it the music utopia we hope it to be? |
The Minnesota scene recently,
One of our Clubs, The Quest, was great for a while.
Now we have a new club, Tabu, lots of amateur new DJs and Live Acts are performing there, even myself in december
In the last 4 months has begun to thrive, due to a planning company called, Sound-In-Motion, we have had, in the last for 4 months:
Marco V
Sasha
Tiesto
Gabriel and Dresden
Zabiela
Baby Anne
In the past, we would be lucky to get these guests here in 2 years |

Didn't some England super clubs scale back to become a monthly thing?
In fact I was chatting to an 18 year old German girl on the weekend that had not heard of Paul van Dyk. |

I remember being quite shocked at how big r&b was in Germany, and the number of r&b nights that were on, the last couple of times I was there. |
